There is almost no chance of the light from the muzzle blast causing any permanent damage to your eyes, though in a dark environment it may temporarily blind you if it is a bright flash. If the hot gasses of the blast get into your eye however, that can cause serious damage to your eye, and possibly even blindness.

If you mean temporary night blindness then yes. I can tell you from experience one shot in low light and everything goes black.

I suspect close up fighting can cause permanent damage to your eyes. I have heard that porting can cause eye damage when shooting from the hip (your carry gun should never be ported)

If you have night vision on it can white out our night vision.

I had this happen to me once while driving a 80,000 tractor trailer hauling a D-7 Dozer. Down hill NOT FUN.

At a distance I would think not and any blindness would be temporary. Close up however, it could do permanent damage to your eye cornea..
