NO..Actually they are not the same thing.A European mount strips and uses the entire skull with the antlers still attached, and not just the cap base where the antlers are connected. They can be done but it takes a lot more hand work and time because you will need to get 100% of the tissue out of the "sinus" area of the skull (And all those tiny cavaties) and that in itself is very hard to do, not to mention very time consuming.. It will take almost a month to complete a skull mount so that it won't smell and looks good. You are looking at about 26 hours+ for a skull mount compared to 4-8 hours for a cap mount . It is of course your choice to make.Good Luck with whatever you choose.......

NOTE* If it was warm weather you could also remove as much flesh as you could then lay the skull and antlers on an Ant's nest. Ants will strip the flesh down so well it will look like it was actually bleached, but unfortunately Ants aren't around this time of year when you need them....lol

Yes, they are one in the same. If you do it yourself make sure you remove everything from the skull. If anything is left on the skull it will rot and smell and attract bugs. The pros use carrion beatles to eat all the flesh off the bone.

Yes, they are the same.
I just put mine in a bucket of water and let it set. After a couple of weeks, change the water. It smells really bad when it first starts rotting, but after you change out the water it gets better. More fresh water later. It bleaches the bone so I try to keep the antlers out of the water.
After it dries, no smell and looks good. A coat of spray on clear really makes it nice.
