Glocks while outstanding guns and state of the art when they came out, are now a bit dated and other guns are better.

Look at a Springfield Armory XD 45 Compact. The advantages over a Glock are:

1. Magazine has 10 rounds vs 9 for the Glock. Both magazines are legal in California.

2. 45 ACP has more power than a 40 cal S+W.

3. Second magazine that comes with the SA has 13 rounds with an extension on the magazine so it now is the same size as the service model. May be an issue in California but in the other states if you have to go to the second magazine, the extra length of the grip and more rounds is considered a plus.

4. Glock trigger safety does not have the same contour as the trigger. After a long day at the range, you will end up with a groove in your finger from the safety. The SA trigger safety has the same curve as the trigger so your finger does not get sore.

5. Glock has ONLY that trigger safety. Catch it on something as you put the gun in your holster and it CAN go off The SA has a grip safety which eliminates that risk.

6. The Glock uses a fat walled plastic magazine around a thin metal liner, so the grips are big. The SA uses a flat steel walled magazine so you can get more rounds in for the same size grip. If you do not think this is a problem, for Glock to get about the same power and rounds into their gun as the SA can, the Glock company had to invent their own cartridge, the 45 GAP.

Give a XD a try before you go get a Glock. I think you will find it a better gun.

Glock 27 Handgun

A Glock 27 ? ...guess that would depend on where you are in California. If you're in the Los Angeles area - there's a great little shop in Culver City called "Martin J. Rettings" a good selection & the people working there are VERY knowledgable.

No firearms on eBay just "accessories" Glocks have a good reputation but have you ever shot one? I don't like the trigger safety it's not natural. I'm with the little lady Sig Sauer is hard to beat for fit and finish, style and comfort plus several models in 9mm, 357 Sig, 40 S&W, and .45 acp. If you're hell bent on a plastic gun HK has a good lineup of pistols and Kahr makes outstanding compact and backup pistols in 3 calibers. Find a range in your area that rents and try a few first then make your decision.

Glocks are good. Don't know where in Calif. you could buy one, but the Model 27 is a good choice for a defensive weapon. I have the Glock Model 20 10mm and the Model 31 .357 Sig, but I just like bigger guns.

Best.

Glocks have a great reputation. But I prefer the Springfield Armory XD series. I like it better for the safeties, and over feel. I think it looks better and just as reliable. Check them out...

I'd recommend about anything before I'd recommend a Glock. They have a pretty spotty history with 'kaboom'ed pistols, and longevity is questionable with the small amount of slide contact they have. I'd be a little leary about the new S&W M&P pistols, too, for much the same reason.

Depends on what you're looking for. I fell in love with a Sig Sauer and a Five-Nine 9mm. Check that one out, its sweet! I have my license too, its just a money factor. You can buy guns at local gunshops, look them up online or in the phone book.

Male or Female? I'm female, I need a smaller gun so the kickback isn't as strong and I can actually aim cuz my wrists can actually hold the weight of the gun. It all depends on what you want to use it for. Target practice? Defense???

Reconsider & buy a Colt Combat Commander in 45 acp or a Smith & Wesson 4" barreled revolver in 357 Magnum.*
