Hunting - August 2007

I cannot find serial #'s to two guns that were in the family home. These guns are now missing. Can I find out the serial #'s by looking up the deceased persons name? Is there a website by state that I can do this?

I recently bought a Marlin 30/30 30as with a scope. The person I bought it from said it was sighted in for 200 yards but when I shot it I adjusted it a little bit so now its off. I just replaced the scope anyways because it needed a new one, but anyways whats the best way to sight in my scope without buying a boresighter or anything like that? I want to sight it in 100 yards and before this coming deer season.

I don't think my parents would object to me getting a gun.But they are so lazy if asked them to get the license and crap now I might get a gun in a few years.They hate any kind of paperwork.Is a blackpowder gun too hard to manage for a beginner?

My parents live on a large property and get coyotes and have seen 4 bobcats in their backyard. We have 2 young children who like to "explore" in their backyard. Do bobcats like to "hang out" or are they frightened of us? I guess my fear is that the kids will be playing in the back of the property and that a bobcat will come and attack them.
I AM NOT talking about a mountain lion.

I bought a very nice, original, Mauser 98k with all the "world war two" marks still on it. I bought it to own a piece of history. I have cleaned and kept it very well and it shoots very nice. Every couple years I do go deer hunting in Wisconsin and then need the use of a rifle. I would like to put a scope on my Masuer without drilling, filing or otherwise damaging it. I want to keep it in original condition but I want to be able to hunt with it from time to time. I found a couple scope mounts that attach to the rear sights, do these work well? Other options? Please help! Personal expierence a PLUS!

So far this month, I've bought 10,000 rounds of .22LR, 3500 rounds of .45 ACP, 3500 rounds of .357 Magnum, 2200 rounds of .223 Remington, and 1000 rounds of 9mm.

I'd still like to pick up a little more, including some .308 and .30-06, if I can find it at decent prices.

Anybody have a lead on some low-priced lead? At this point, I'm also looking to buy components (bullets and brass).

When I start to take my SKS apart, I start by taking off the recoil spring protector behind the bolt, but it is not coming off when I rotate the pin and pull it out to make it pop out? How do I get it off?

I personally dont care aobut statistics in foreign countries, this is America. If you take guns away from law abiding citizens that carry guns for protection, the only protection they have then is to yell, Dont shoot, which is never as effective as the intruder/ yelling Dont shoot! Criminals could care less about gun laws. Think about this, if they are robbing houses and killing poeple, do you morons really think they are going to give up their guns?! That is the stupidest support of gun control ive ever heard! All i can say is they are going to have one heck of a time hauling a 200 pound gun case with 13 guns in it out of my house with me clinging to it.
