Do you want a .50AE, .50 Beowulf, .50BMG? I assume you mean the .50BMG. Barrett pretty much owns the market on civilian .50BMG rifles in America, . They make great rifles, if I had the money I would have bought an M99 long ago. Another brand to look into is Cobb Manufacturing. I have a good friend who swears by FA50. Whatever rifle you buy be prepared to drop a couple thousand on the rifle, plus at least $1 per round of ammo.

Barrett is the best on the market. The Model M99 is the civilian version. Be prepared to spend $3,000 to $10,000 dollars for the gun if you can get one. Not to mention .50 caliber BMG ammunition is not $1 per round but over $3.75 per round if you can find it since the war in Iraq continues.

If your looking at a BMG i recommend McMillan. They are lightweight and very reliable. I'm sure it's probably easier to get a Barrett since they are the more popular gun but a Mcmillan is worth hunting down.

Go to EAA arms; I saw a nice looking 50 they had advertised; actually they had a very hot looking babe on the add asking if you liked the rifle she was holding. Now that I think about it I remember that I forgot to look at the rifle but it must have been a hot one.

For the money you spend on a Barrett, you can get a really nice 120 year old (or thereabouts) double in 500 BPE and be the envy of your neighborhood.

Barretts are good if you have lots of money to invest. My father used to have one made by state arms and he never had any problems with it.

Get a Thompson/Center Hawken or Renegade.
You can hunt with them, they don't weigh 40 pounds or more, and they don't kick the crap out of you when you pull the trigger.

I suggest spending your money elsewhere, as a .50 BMG is nothing more then a bragging tool, and a useless POS. If you want to look like a tough guy, go to the gym and work out. Otherwise, only purchase firearms that have a useful purpose.
