Glock or Springfield has nothing to do with a desert eagle

I have a pt745 it is a sub-compact by taurus. is only holds 6 per mag and I don't think it is the type of gun you can put alot of rounds with out having problems. I is a good CCW gun or back-up but not an every day shooter.

I prefer the XD over the Glock.

The Glock, simply put, feels like I'm gripping a 2x4.

Now, the Glock DOES get points for its near-legendary reliability and durability. They're tough to break, and if you do manage it, the parts are widely available, cheap, and easy to install.

The XD, however, has better ergonomics. Although it holds just as many rounds as the Glock 21, the XD45 has a slimmer, shorter grip, making it more comfortable to hold and easier (for me, at least) to control. Minor points that I like are the grip safety, loaded chamber indicator and striker status indicator.

To be fair, though, the XD does lose big points for this: Springfield Armory does not sell parts. If you manage to break the gun, you'll have to send it to the factory for repair. This will cost nearly $100 for round-trip overnight shipping via UPS or Fed-Ex. This is not a widely known fact, but it tends to be a dealbreaker for many, once they find out.

For me, I just solved that problem by buying two of them. If one breaks, I won't be without a gun--although I will curse the exhorbitant shipping costs...

Glock 21 (4.6 in barrel) holds 13 rounds, The Springfield XD 45 service model (4 in Barrel) holds 13 rounds. The XD 45 Tactical model (5 in barrel) holds 10 in one mag and 13 in the extended mag. XD has the grip safety (similar to a 1911)and the Glock does not. Grip angles are different too, it will be a matter of personal preference on which one you are more comfortable with. XD grip is slimmer than the Glock .45ACP grip.

In the .45ACP, I prefer the XD due to the grip. The Glock 21 grip felt too big and awkward in my hand. Whereas w/ the XD I felt I got a more secure grip. However, I prefer Glocks in the other calibers. I've had a couple of failure to feeds w/ XDs (2 different models, but only happened once with each pistol and didn't occur again after ejecting the mag, expelling the round, and then reloading) but never a misfire w/ a Glock. In the end, I would say the grip is the biggest factor in deciding between the two. Go hold them and see which one feels the most comfortable, you will be pleased w/ either purchase.

I really like my H&K USP Compact .45. But between those to I'd go with the XD. I like the grip angle a lot better than the Glock. If you're used to a 1911 its an easy transition.

I don't know off the top of my head what the magazine capacity of the Glock 21 is, but I'd guess its not as much as the XD .45, which I is 10+1 with the smaller mag and 15+1 with the bigger magazine.

The main reason I'd prefer the XD to the Glock is that neither has a thumb safety, and both have the trigger safety, but the XD also has the grip saftey, which would make me feel more secure when carrying.

Both will be reasonably accurate and reliable.

I prefer the XD over the Glock. I like the grip safety on the XD as an added safety feature that does not slow down draw or firing. I also like how the grip feels in my hand over Glock. It is also a natural point. From draw to taget and the sights are right there. I also like the fact each XD comes with a holster, speed loader, and mag pouch at no extra charge. I also find XDs are easier to field strip.

Both Glocks and XD's have the same capacity for comparible size guns. XD's don't have the track record or the "beefy-ness" of the Glocks. The guide-rails alone are worth buying a Glock over a XD.

Junkman,

It would be lots easier to give recommendations if we knew what you were upgrading FROM.
