Do you know what "point blank range" actually means, or did you hear this term on TV? Look it up and I will bet you it does not mean what you think it means.

Any projectile can be lethal. A .22 bullet can be lethal to a human at close range or even at distance. Many, many people have died as a result of .22 caliber bullets.

The answer is, that statement is NOT TRUE.

Even mentally retarded folks know a .22 is lethal at point blank range, as a member of a family I knew to be retarded actually committed suicide by this method. When I was a deputy sheriff, I know of this one guy who was 'showing off' and used a blank cartridge in a gun and blew his brains out because the GAS produced has explosive force at point blank range. Guns are dangerous, people are more dangerous. This is the reason professional 'hit men' mostly use .22 pistols in their 'trade'. Cheers.

It isn't the Calibre but the Velocity that does the damage.
N.A.T.O. forces use what is basically a ultra high tech .22 rifle, but with enough explosive force in the cartrinde to send it straight through anyone and leave an exit wound you can park a car in.
A 'blank' can kill you at point blank range as a couple of hollywood actors have discovered as they died, the escaping gasses drive a barrel sized piece of your skull into your brain in the same manner as it would drive the bullet from the cartridge.

any caliber rifle is lethal at point blank range. it says on the box of Winchester wildcat .22 LR "dangerous withing 1 1/2 miles." i don't think it would kill you from that far unless the wind was just right, and you got shot in the head.
btw were you wanting to try it? go ahead, let me know how that works out for you.

As a former LEO I can tell you without any doubt that a .22 caliber bullet is lethal at point blank range, in cases where the gunshot victim was shot in the upper head or brain area, or the heart or spinal column. It only takes 1.

Why don't you give it a go and then if we here from you again we'll know that it isn't? By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!! I have a friend that shot himself under the chin with a .22. It exited above his forehead after travelling through his face and behind his left eye. He is quite messed up mentally and physically from it. So in hind sight maybe you shouldn't try it. I hate silly, stupid questions like this. Are you sure your're not the friend I was talking about?

A .22 calibre weapon is the weapon of choice for a lot of mafia hitmen especially if it is to be a close quarter hit.
To be fair to you if it was fired into a limb or hand or foot then no it wouldnt be lethal just hurt like hell but any major organ and especially in the head it is as lethal as most other calibres

The .22 became continually conventional for being a "hitman" high quality by way of fact the bullet had sufficient means to penetrate the cranium on the get right of entry to wound, yet no longer sufficient to go out, thereby in basic terms scrambling up the suggestions basically somewhat. So, i could say it may actual do very much of harm at element sparkling variety.
