I raise a small backyard flock of free range chickens. I pen them up at night, and let them roam through my several acres during the day. In return they provide me with the most wonderful eggs you've ever tasted. The problem is, my neighbors dog occasionally visits and either reduces my flock size, or terrorizes my hens if they haven't been let out for the day yet. The first time it happened, my neighbor was apologetic and compensated me for the dead birds. But the dog has been back several times. I don't want to be a jerk neighbor, but I don't want to lose my few remaining birds, either. I don't really feel that it is the dog's fault, either. Its in his nature. But I want to make it known to the dog that he is NOT welcome in my yard. I know that I legally can shoot him for molesting my 'liestock' but this seems way harsh and I wouldn't go that route. Could I unload the shot from a shotshell and shoot him with the wad to scare the bejesus from him?

since they are closing the New Haven Plant and no longer making this series of gun? It is a Winchester 1300 Turkey and also says 2 3/4 & 3" Also how much is this gun worth? It is in perfect condition except for one tiny 1 inch scratch in the middle.

Thank You

I have been using that on my .22 bolt rifle as well as my 1911 for the reason of preserving the edge of my extractor. I want people's opinions on this. I do tend to be somewhat "anal retentive" about wear and tear on my guns along with rust and dirt.

Right now when I go hunting/backpacking I usually carry a Benelli Nova H20 as my primary bear gun but I am also looking for a sidearm to accompany it that can also stop an alaskan grizzly in very close proximity with very few rounds. I have been looking at the S&W super mag .460s and .500s with the 4-5" barrels as well as the taurus .500S&W and .454 Casull which is as small as a bullet as I would like to go. If you guys have any comments or suggestions for other revolvers that would be awesome.

I am looking for anyone who uses 303 Brit as a hunting ammo. Suggestions on what brand to use also. I am considering using the UMC crap for sighting in, but Hornady for the hunt.

I'm in the market for a cowboy style revolver and I would prefure to buy a Schofield replica by "Navy Arms." But the fact that the single action army is available by so many other companies has me questioning if that is a more popular gun because it is the more reliable of the two, or simply because of the movies. I have fired both guns and am wondering if there is a valid reason why not to by the Schofield over the SAA. The Schofield is the Top Break style for reloading. Yes I do know the extreme difference of how both weapons are loaded. This is just a question of if the Schofield is as reliable as the SAA.

My wife and I are moving to a new city and crime being what it is, we think its time to get a gun. I was hoping for a light weight, easy to use, handgun for home protection. We're two women living together, its just too scary sometimes, and we need to be more prepared.
Any advice is welcomed

I'd like something I can easily change the barrel on for either trap or home defense.

I've been shooting rifle and pistol for years and now I want to get into trap.

Thanks

I've never used one or even held one, but my son was shot in the ear by an 11 year old. He had a hole ripped right through his ear and I took him to the ER. The boy who shot him did not have any ammo, and totally denies he shot him. The boys parents said that my son must have fallen and hit his ear on something. Yea right! My son ends up with a hole straight through his ear and the other boy was playing with a pellet gun at the time. Can someone give me some advice and let me know if this is a possible reason that my son was injured? Thanks.

I understand that a slug is more closely related to a bullet rather then shot like a turkey load because a slug is made up of one large pellet and not a bunch of smaller ones.

Rifles have what's called "rifling" in them to make the bullet spin for accuracy. So does a shotgun need a special rifled barrel to shoot a slug?
