I am thinking about purchasing a gun for family protection. However, i know very little about them. I live in Rhode Island and need to know how I can find out state laws/requirements, as well as federal regulations. Also, where would I buy one? What kind should I buy? Where can I learn about gun safety and where to bet trained to use it correctly? Oh, and please, I do not want to hear your rants about how guns are bad etc... I do not want this to turn into a gun debate. I just want to know the answers to my questions. Save your comments about how guns kill, this stat or that stat. I am not interested and you can ask your own question if you want to debate that.

In my region, there are coyotes. Fencing is not an option for me. Is there a scent, or some sort of device, something we can put out to keep the coyotes from our land?
I would rather not be shooting them. It isn't open season anyway.

I am a civilian looking to buy a home defense auto. I'm a little turned off on the 9mm round, I've read about insuffient stopping power. I don't like the feel of the XD line, but I've fired both glocks and 92fs at range and am comfortable with both.

Also I know the 92 fs is very reliable, but does the same go with the 96?

Ok Im askin this to yall because you understand what it is to love the outdoors, hunting, and guns. I need a little help choosing.
My b-day is comin up (August 27) and muh dad asked me what i wanted for a present. I asked him if he could get me a camo 12 gauge shotgun, but he really doesn't have the money but he owns a lot of weapons.
I have to choose between an awesome hunting knive or an AK-47. What do you think?

I know you are supposed to rejet the carb at high altitudes, but I'm wondering if I can get away with not doing it at around 9000 ft. I don't want to spend the money if I don't have too. Besides I'll just be there for a week and will have to change it back when I get home.

I just noticed that i have rabbits in my backyard i guess because i live in front of a forest.....I DO NOT want to hunt them cause i love animals but i want to watch and take pics of them cause i am a photographer. I have a list of vegetable but i do not know which attracts them the most....Can anybody tell me which of these foods they like the most:
Green beans
Lima Beans
Pinto Beans
Creamed Corn
Corn
Peas
Spinach
And also you can name one more name that is not on the list that attracts rabbits but is a common vegetable or fruit or anything!
I really do not want to go out and buy special foods that attract them, just wanna know if there is anything in my house that they may like
I just want them to come around alot more often to take pics of them

Due to the recent media frenzy on impending terrorist attacks this summer, what are you doing to prepare for the onlsaught?

I stocked up on beer and toilet paper in case they have me pinned in my home. I also plan on mounting a turret to the top of my house. My neighbor wants to mine the road, but I think that is taking it a bit too far.

What is your opinion?

to be able to kill a moose with. i am in the market for a new rifle. if there is one, it would also be used for black bear, whitetail and elk. i like the .270 for whitetail, black bear, and possibly elk, but im not sure it will take down a moose. i would think that if you loaded some 200 grain .30/06 bullets you should be able to take one. but what about a .308? or a 7mm. or maybe a 7mm magnum?

I just picked up a S&W model 60-15 J-frame. And after checking out some forums, review, and even Q&A on here. I keep running into the same thing.

IE "Don't shoot too many 125grn .357 Magnums, It'll stress the frame."

Now I don't know about yours, but mine doesn't have stamped on the barrel

.357 MAGNUM (ONLY A FEW)

So what's the deal?

Is it some kind of conspiracy of men trying to make up for what they lack via a large frame revolver? Or is there an actual basis of reasoning that I just don't know about?
