What is the difference between Karate and Taekwon-do? I know that Taekwon-do is Korean and Karate is Japanese, but both seem to be the same.

I recently purchased a Gameness gi. I'm 6'0 215lbs and got the A4 size. It fits great except the sleeves are way too long. They go past my outstretched fingers. Should I return it for a smaller size, get a different brand, or take it to a alteration place and get the sleeves taken in?

any ways I meet up with an old friend from highschool and I remind him of the good old days. We use to both do kick boxing and sparred all the time. Well we decided to fight for old times sake, only it wont be restricted to scoring points. Im wondering how I should I fight him. He's 6,3 190 something lbs, and pretty muscular. His advantage is that he is bigger and stronger. Im 5,7 155 lbs and lean. My advantage is that ive been in more real fights and still can kick prettyhard. Im wondering how I should I fight him. I thought maybe rushing and throwing everything I got but if I messed up he would easily over power me. So then im thinking of using grappling but I would have to get in close enough without taking too many blows. Asking for advice from any one that does martial arts, boxing or any combat like sport.

Who do you think should be the coaches on "The Ultmate Figher"? They are casting right now, and it has been said that the next fighters will be middle weights.

I have been thinking that you need 2 fighters who definitely have a grudge and also a chance to fight for a chance at the belt.

Does anyone like team Josh Koscheck vs Team Diego Sanchez?

Any other ideas?

Hey guys,
I'm currently taking tae-kwon-do lessons, and ill be getting my black belt shortly
and once thats done, I was hoping to extend my boundaries and take some xma (xtreme martial arts) lessons, or just some acrobatic martial arts lessons in general
you know, learn the front flip, back flip, misty flip, 360, barrel roll, butter fly twist, etc etc etc the whole shebang

the problem is i live in League City, a small city really close to Houston TX
and i have no idea where to start or what to look for
I've searched online, but no luck
any suggestions on where i should start looking for classes??

After learning different martial arts techniques (I explained my styles in Randy S' question), and it being one of my biggest hobbies, aswell as having a few friends that know Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwan Do, and a few others; I think we should merge some kicks, punches, blocks, and even create new, more modern moves that fit into today's fighting. I have no idea what to call it though. It would also be nice to be the father of a new martial art. I am wondering what would be good names for it, and what the most powerful techniques are in your styles, so that we may include them. I already know variations of the following moves will make it into the new martial art:

-Crescent Kick
-Axe Kick
-Front Kick
-Side Thrust Kick
-Spin Hook Kick
-Round Kick
-Round House Kick
-Standard Punches (Jab, Body Punch, Head Punch, etc.)
-Silat Grappling Techniques
-Flying kicks (F. Front K., F. Side Thrust K., etc.)
-Westernized boxing techniques, wrestling, etc.

Suggestions for more moves?

I have been having a discussion with a friend who owns his own dojo, he prefers to use Satin belts when he promotes his black belts. I prefer to use cotton belts during workouts or sparring, and reserve the Satin belts for Tournaments or Ceremony. He is thinking about changing his belts that are given. What type of belts do you prefer? What size width, and what brand do you recommend?
