I want to know how to get sponsored or promoted in the Las Vegas Area. If not sponsored or promoted how much does one usually have to fork out to fight a few fights & get recognized? My BF & I are trying to find info out but I am not sure where to start since we are new to this city. Thanks!

You usually start out in the amateur level and then as you gain experience and some type of record and reputation promoters and matchmakers will call you or your coach. After so many fights you can go professional and that is when you actually start getting paid for fighting. You don't pay them to let you fight and if someone expected you to then don't do it. Prior to this you establish yourself usually in a gym or school under the watchful eye of a good coach who knows a lot of these people and whom promoters contact when they are looking for fighters to put on a fight card. That you do pay for and in turn you get the benefit of his coaching and experience as well as the connections that he may have. You are living in the right area geographically so now just get into a good gym or school and start training. The rest will happen to some extent if you are a good fighter and serious about wanting to make it. Oftentimes people say they want to fight, start training and either their social life, finances, bad habits like drinking, partying, drugging sidetrack them and their training or careers. All of this does not happen or come easily or without sacrifice and only time will tell if you are serious and have what it takes to succeed; oftentimes many don't but still a few others do succeed so good luck!

Find a good gym, pay the fee (should be pretty nominal) to be able to work the floor, and if the guy(s) who run the gym are interested after seeing you work the floor, interact with the other fighters and perhaps sparring, they'll talk to you about getting a fight card so you can go to some fights and be ranked. A fight card doesn't cost that much, and you shouldn't have to pay much to be able to be part of a good gym.

The Racine Golden Gloves club in Racine--Vic asked for $10/month from the fighters to help defer some cost, and he leased his portion of the building from the police annex. He chose the fighters who had a chance and wouldn't get hurt at the fights and let them fight, helped them send away for their fight cards if they needed to, had a couple of coaches that knew what they were doing and really worked with the fighters--and the other fighters who were not actively fighting helped spar, worked out, learned....In my opinion that is the kind of gym you should be looking for. Once you start getting ranked, winning national events, you can start talking about bigger fights, USA boxing, moving up from there.

"Getting recognized" I don't think will happen quickly, not instantly. Unless the fighter is just simply a phenom yet to behold. In most cases it's a lot of blood and sweat and hard work.

Locate the local Boxing or Martial Arts Studio that has produced World Class fighter's as rated by the three recognized Boxing Organizations. Or get an agent he will tell you what to do. Just contact the local boxing gyms
