Lately I've been taking notice that Jason Arnott is having a nice season (statistically). What are some other players you feel have rejuvinated/jump-started their careers?

I am a girl, but I am starting to get into hockey.
I am not going to play on a team because its too expensive.
but
I just want a hockey stick so I can play with my friends when they play and just shoot a puck/ball around when im by myself.

I am 14, right handed, we don't play on ice that much unless if I get invited to a birthday party. And I am 5 foot 3.

Any tips on what to do when getting a hockey stick.
Any websites would help!
Thanks!
My spending limit is $45.00, I know thats not much to work with but thats all I got.

You can watch the game live on Yahoo here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl Just scroll down to the scoreboard on the right and click "watch live" when the game starts at 9:00pm EST

Oh man, I've been looking forward to this game all season. Sucks that I can't go though (snow). Both teams are pretty banged up;

Detroit: Zetterberg, Maltby, and Holmstrom are out.

Colorado: Sakic, Sauer, and Arnason are out. Ryan Smyth, Leopold and Richardson are "possible" a new term made up by Quenneville, lol.

The advantage in injuries goes to the Avs, mainly because Leopold, Richardson and Smyth have been upgraded to "possible". The Avs are also playing at home, where they have excelled this season. Although the Pepsi Center will probably only be half-full (5" of snow on the ground right now, 8"-10" expected). The Red Wings are also playing their second game of a back to back. Everything seems to be in position for an Avs win, but I am in doubt. So who do YOU think is going to win tonight?

I saw an ad with Jeremy Roenick talking about his IIHF experiences against Team Canada on Sportscenter today. It was quite amusing because I am an avid Team Canada fan. Does anyone know somewhere I could watch it again?

I was curious to get others opinions on this as a stat in fantasy hockey.
Personally, I hate it, and here is why:

Your team scores 8 goals on the week but no GWG's.
Your opponents team scores 1 goal but because their team's goal happened to be the 2nd goal scored in 5-1 victory, they receive a GWG.

So the team with a far superior offense that week is punished for being unlucky and their dominant performance eliminated with a 1-1 tie. More often than not, GWG's don't take anymore skill than normal goals, just the luck that the opponent scores one less goal than that players goal. If it was just overtime goals, that would be a different story.

Do you think its fair that you obviously had a much better week in goals but that is washed clean by luck?

I seem to be in the minority on this one but I hate the category and I haven't really gotten a legitimate reason as to why it is still liked other than "its cool" or its "so random."

What is your opinion?

Thoughts of fruitcake helped me think of this question. Many in this section, are knowledgeable about other sports, as well as hockey. I am not one of them.

I "believe":
Satchel Paige was like 59 or 60 years old in baseball
Teddy Sheringham was about 40 years old in soccer
George Blanda had a 26-year career in football
Gordie Howe played in 5 decades

What sport do you think produces the longest lasting players?

OK this has nothing to do with last night, because Raycroft actually played half decent. But Seriously, this guy needs to get the hell off our team. He has the worst stats in the whole league and yet we still stick by him? Why does J.F have to torture us so much. I really can't handle the losing anymore. I swear we would be better off putting Clemenson or even Pogge in net right now, it can't get any worse. It really hurts watching this guy let in 2 or 3 soft goals every game. I am just praying that Toskala can come back soon. If he doesn't we are screwed for another whole year.

I know the Russian pro clubs are well financed by maybe sketchy people, and get good crowds. However I heard a lot of the Soviet era rinks have been converted to other purposes. If kids don't have a place to play, where are the future elite players going to come from?

I was reading Y! Rumors today and it is all doom and gloom. There have been many injuries in the past few months.

Which injury has had the biggest impact on your most beloved NHL team?

Among Western Conference goalies he is 2nd in wins, 1st in the NHL in Goals Against Average, 1st in the NHL in Save Percentage, and is 3rd in the Western Conference in Shutouts. Plus, he's started 19 games to date and has won 16 of them!!! No other goalie in the league has a winning percentage higher than he does. And you cant say its because he plays for Detroit, because Hasek is absolutely getting lit up (2.41 GAA, and .885 SV%).
