PIMs are no good; so why do they always introduce or talk about a guy by saying, heres simon gagne; has 15 goals 10 assists and 24 PIMs.

The Score said that Ilya Kovalchuk is going to win the Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophy this year, AND they said that Kovalchuk is BETTER then Pavel Bure.

Does anyone else find this Ridiculous?

To me, that's an equivalent of using an illegal curve or using a longer stick.

Rumor has it Kyle Okposo will be leaving the U of MN after the world juniors to sign with the Islanders.

Is this a good move for him?

This is unheard of in college hockey, would this start a trend that would not be good for the NCAA?

Are the Islanders in need of shake up? I realize he would probably be AHL bound but to pull him out of the U they are probably thinking he would crack the line up..

I am not a big U of MN fan and this would be good for the rest of the WCHA but not good for NCAA hockey as a whole.

Thoughts????

Alright, I'm thinking about something involving our terrible goalies, bad defense, on-line team, something harsh- we (Lightning fans) are all feeling pretty harsh right now.

BUT not too harsh, I'll still die a Bolts fan.

Ideas?

Is anyone else a little surprised by this trade from the standpoint of both teams? Usually you see teams trade from their strengths to improve on their weaknesses but this deal almost seems reverse. The Flyers seem to have some depth on D, even if they have injuries, there are guys in the AHL able to step in. In fact, they cited their wealth of Dmen as a reason for trading Timonen to Dallas last week.
Adversely, the Blackhawks seem short on experienced Dmen, yet trade one of their more experienced ones. I see how Eager might help them a little but to take from a weakness to shore up on an area where they are not as weak?

Maybe a precurser for something else I guess, but to me, it seems odd for both teams.
Thoughts?

I say it is inevitable. Reasons are the dominance the USA has had in recent years in the under 18 tournament, winning gold twice and silver twice in the last 4 years.
As well as the only team that has really given Canada problems in the last 2 world juniors was the USA.
USA hockey is much more organized now and the programs they have are second to none.
AND PLEASE THIS IS NOT AN ANTI CANADIAN POST.

Here are some stats on three of the biggest signings and another that caused quite a stir when he signed for half the amount the two guys in NY signed for. Seems Philly is getting their money's worth but those Ranger signings seem to be doing little better than the guy Lowe signed for half as much.

Any tips on screening, tipping, deflecting? I need to work on it I'm already "ok" but I need to get better because I don't always know how to tip it the right way. Ex. if it is low between my legs I try to swipe it at a corner but it goes wide.
