PIMs are no good; so why do they always introduce or talk about a guy by saying, heres simon gagne; has 15 goals 10 assists and 24 PIMs.

My problem isn't that they include it on the stat line, but that some people judge a player in a positive manner based on the fact that he gets a certain number of penalty minutes. Last I looked, there are no penalties that help your team, especially given how important power plays have been since the lockout.

Usually it's +/- shown instead of PIM. What channel are you watching that shows that? I mean, I guess Datsyuk PIM are pretty impressive with as much ice time as he gets. I think he has 6 PIM.

Good question. Dumb stat. Rarely does getting a penalty help your team.
