He's listed as a D, but he was playing forward for a while. Does anyone know if he's still playing as a forward?

He's a versatile player. Contrary to a previous poster, he was drafted as a defenseman (courtesy of the 2003 NHL Draft Guide and the 2004 NHL Official Guide and Record Book), but he also has the ability to play the left wing. Savard has used him at both positions this year and will continue to use him at both positions as the year wears on. His defensive skills are still somewhat lacking, and using his as a forward sort of covers some of that up.

Contrary to Dr. J, Byfuglien has always been an offensively gifted D man (44 points in 63 games in the AHL, 3rd in defense scoring in the WHL in 2004-2005)

He is defense. I disagree with the other guy. He is not an offensive player. He just scored a few goals in a three game period, but other than that, he has been pretty quiet on the offensive front.

Both. He has been skating alot on the top line with Havlat and Lang as well. great fantasy pick-up because you can use him in a D spot. Other guys (Daryl Sydor) have been known to play both as well at points in their career.

Savard likes him as a power foward. Chicago drafted him as a forward.
