San Antonio isn't the 2nd greatest city in Texas. it is the 0.33. Dallas and Houston are larger. Seeing as Dallas already has the celebrities, does no longer Houston come till now San Antonio. we've the Aeros, and have had them for 15 years. they're the IHL associate of the Minnesota Wild and owned by employing some Minnesota business enterprise. the ingredient is, we've had an IHL team for 15 years. We pay attention communicate each 300 and sixty 5 days with regard to the NHL increasing, yet no longer something has got here approximately on account that 2000. There are at the instant 30 communities in the US and Canada. i do no longer think of there is room for many extra. besides, have you ever priced NHL tickets as against IHL? decrease point tickets for the Wild are $ninety 5 for midsection ice and then they have "top rate pastime" expenses for $114 in keeping with man or woman. evaluate that to their farm team, the Aeros. an identical seating is $31 till you get seats ideal on the glass, and that's $sixty one. there is not any top rate pastime pricing. If we've been given an NHL team value tag expenses could a minimum of double. No thank you! i'm satisfied going to a pastime a 300 and sixty 5 days, even however I nevertheless favored the Summit (never stated because it the Compaq midsection) to the basketball section designed Toyota midsection. additionally, hockey is mostly a Yankee pastime. They hardly sell out, and comparing it to the NFL (with what, 8 domicile video games a 300 and sixty 5 days) isn't precise. evaluate with the Astros, who average a million/2 means. i do no longer think of Houston is the ideal demographic, and that i'm a super hockey fan (i'm a Rangers fan, however.)

The NHL has given NBC/Vs their blessing to discuss the situation with ESPN
Somethings to consider
1. There is a myth that the NHL does not reach as many homes with Vs as it did with ESPN. Both ESPN and Vs reach all US markets that contain an NHL team.
- in markets that do not have an NHL team....Vs ratings are 3x higher than ESPN's were
- in games not involving Detroit, Philadelphia, or the Rangers....Vs ratings are higher than ESPNs (yes...ESPN's ratings were driven by showing games involving teams in the bigger cities instead of the casual game that Vs likes to show)
Over time, the NHL Centre Ice package will be the way to go on both sides of the border and deals with ESPN, Vs, CBC will be a thing of the past.

Bettman and Company are sold that they can grow the current cable channel with their product & they weren't pleased the way the product was treated by ESPN. Unless Bettman is replaced, the NHL will continue to be on a channel that is rarely part of basic cable packages throughout the nation.

The 2002 World Series of Poker is still outdrawing hockey on ESPN. Forget it!
Switch to DIRECTV and get VERSUS and NHL Network. Look me up and I'll get you the $50 deal for referring a friend! You can use it toward the Center Ice package.

Maybe there's a chance. My dish now has a poker channel 24/7 so there might be some room someday. But only if the paranoid teams lift their blackouts.

Yes. I expect that by next year they will be back in the game and showing at least a few games. From what I have heard, there have been talks in recent months.
