OK this has nothing to do with last night, because Raycroft actually played half decent. But Seriously, this guy needs to get the hell off our team. He has the worst stats in the whole league and yet we still stick by him? Why does J.F have to torture us so much. I really can't handle the losing anymore. I swear we would be better off putting Clemenson or even Pogge in net right now, it can't get any worse. It really hurts watching this guy let in 2 or 3 soft goals every game. I am just praying that Toskala can come back soon. If he doesn't we are screwed for another whole year.

I couldn't agree with your sentiments more. Yes, there are times when Raycroft plays a 'decent' game; but more often than not, he does let in soft goals. As for the most wins in a season, that was a fluke. Most times, you'll find Raycroft down on his knees, then the puck goes behind him. He said of last night's game, "I'd like to have seen the game get to at least a shoot-out". Say what!?? Raycroft CANT handle a shoot-out. He's ALWAYS beaten. Whenever the Leafs are facing a shoot-out, I say "there goes the game", and it turns out I'm right.
Toskala has great potential; but for years now, all the fans have been told is.."we're rebuilding". Enough already. The Leafs need to spend some $ to get top-notch players. Let's go back to just a couple of years ago when the Leafs had Trevor Kidd in the net. He couldn't stop a beach ball & was even ridiculed on the internet. (There was a pic of him in net, & a beach ball behind him). Raycroft is sensational compared to Kidd. Raycroft makes me nervous; he's a hot/cold goaltender, but more cold than hot. In my opinion, he's definitely not NHL calibre. I share your feelings exactly.I see the Leafs getting into the playoffs, & perhaps beyond...ok I'll go take my medication now. LOL LOL

If you really think Raycroft is the worst ever, I suggest you find a way to watch Fox Sports New York, and watch a Devils broadcast. In the pregame, intermissions and postgame, you will think you are watching "The Addams Family." In fact, the guy who looks like Lurch will be Ken Daneyko. And the guy who looks like Gomez will be Glenn Resch, better known as Chico Retch. HE was the worst goalie I've ever seen, and the reason the Devils didn't make the Playoffs until 1988. (It may not have been very long, but it felt like suffering.) If he wasn't the worst goalie, then he was the goalie with the worst toupee.

You want another candidate? Ron Low, goalie for the worst team of the post-WWII era, the 1974-75 expansion Washington Capitals. And he also played for the early Devils. (We were thanking God for Sean Burke, never mind Martin Brodeur.) A pretty lousy head coach, too, and he's now an Ottawa assistant -- which means that the Leafs usually, at least, have a shot at being the best team in Ontario.

What about the Islanders? DiPietro, who seems like he's constantly injured, still has several seasons left on his 15-year contract, and the other goalies who have played for them this season are a rather uninspiring bunch. I will concede that the Avalanche have also been uninspiring as far as save% is concerned. What I can't tell is if it's bad goaltending or bad D that has them (and the Islanders) in last place. That brings me to the Sabres. Miller's going to be out for a while, and there's no telling when the flu will force Lalime to miss a game (or, even worse, several games in a row), which would leave their fate in the hands of untested (at least in the NHL) Jhonas Enroth.

I just hope the couple of days Toskala is out doesn't make him revert back to the same level he was at during the beginning of the season. You can say Toskala is on a hot/lucky streak, but if he's stopping pucks, he's stopping pucks and that's a lot more than Raycroft is doing. I'll agree with you, I'd rather see someone else getting the majority of the starts over Raycroft. You have to figure someone is going to get dumped sooner or later when you have Clemenson and Pogge in the background.

A lot of people don't give Raycroft the credit he deserves. Have you forgotten his performance against Buffalo? The defense was in sync and he shut out the Sabres. When they were in Phoenix he had next to no defense. The defense last night was horrid and he still managed to get them into OT. The only reason why he's still not off the team is because Ferguson is shopping him around to teams like the Kings and Pens.

And us Leafs fans being screwed has nothing to do with Raycroft; it all has to do with the offices.

The OT goal wasn't Raycrofts fault. It was the slow Leafs defence.

hey, forgotten Aubin already have you?? lol

come on, the guy isnt THAT bad. i think he can play really well, he just needs some confident & some fans on his side (for which he needs to play exceptionally well of course). come on you gotta stay open minded.

Excuse me worst goalie ever? At least you don't have Marc Denis! I'm so glad I dont have to watch him anymore he'll be put on waivers and either claimed ( please ) or be playing for Norfolk soon enough.

OMG you were just reading my mind. I heard they were putting in Raycroft and I'm like great, minus 2. I think we'd be better off if they drafted my Dad. Raycroft and his 70's style porn star mustache can go back to the AHL.

Pretty harsh words for a guy who set the Maple Leafs record for wins in a season just last year. Couldn't help myself.

To be fair, don't let Toskala's recent hot streak fool you, he isn't much better. Regardless, you are screwed for another full year.
