The NY Yankees have re-signed or agreed to deals with all their major free agents during the offseason. But, isn't this the same group of guys that came up failures last year? Why would this year be any different?

Do you have a guy on your favorite team that you really don't like? For me, it's Reed Johnson of my beloved Jays. A horribly impatient leadoff hitter who refuses to take pitches, no power, and a terrible baserunner for someone with good speed.

Who would you pick from your favorite team?

I am a Yankees fan & I have seen so many postings on YA, that if Red Sox get Santana that they will win 4 or 5 World Series in the next couple of years. I will admit, the Sox will have a great pitching staff & if they do sign him, nothing is guaranteed. Remember all that great pitching the Atlanta Braves had & what did they get out of that pitching staff, yes they did win many division titles, but they also only won 1 World Series. Whoever gets Santana, whether it's the Yanks or Sox, neither team is a shoe in for the WS title but he will help whatever team he goes to. Thoughts?

tested positive for steroids last year for 3 years - 36 million, wow, that's 12 million per season. I think this will be Guillen's 10th team. He's a good player, but he's not worth that kinda money, you agree? Obviously the Royals are desperate.

It's frustrated to see a team like the Angels get things done and sign Torii Hunter. Then they are the mix for Miguel Cabrera and maybe even Johan Santana. Even a team like the Red Sox who just won the World Series are still improving their team by trying to get Santana. What are the Giants doing? Don't tell me Vizquel is going to be our only "acquisition"?

A couple of people here are trying to claim Hank Steinbrenner didn't go back on his word.

Please explain to me how saying you won't negotiate with a certain player if he opts out of his contract;

Then a few weeks later, they are in Hank's office NEGOTIATING a deal?

You do know what the word negotiate means right?

It makes no different who went to who, if the two parties are discussing a deal, they are negotiating.

If Hank wanted to stay true to his word, he would've told A-Rod he meant what he said, and no negotiations would take place. Period.

Do you just not know how contracts work, what a negotiation is, or will you just say anything as long as it's positive about the Yankees?

or the Indians deal (Ramirez), or picking up clutch DH-er "David Arias"

As a yankees fan I'm already getting mad at hank for thinking he's an intimidating figure in mlb to other clubs. He seems to have the same old grouchy attitude as his father but none of his father's good attributes. So far it seems that hank keeps getting lucky with posada, arod, mo, and pettitte. Because of these 4 he thinks that he's as good as an owner george was. I keep looking to quality attributes in him, but everytime something in the news comes up he seems to just be grunt about deals. Can anyone help me find some good qualities in this new owner or am I doomed to be a depress yankees fan till he sells the team.

Should the Cubs trade for Johann Santana?
and give up Mark Prior, Sean Marshall, Felix Pie, Matt Murton, and Ryan Dempster.....plus any player in their minor league that the twins want?

2007-12-04 03:30:59 · 11 answers · asked by ez f 1

No I don't think so they have great young pitching coming up and Brian Cashman is a fool to even consider giving it up . They resigned Pettitte let
and Mariano Rivera let them and Mussina Mentor Hughes, Kennedy and Chamberlin and they can always Get Santana when he becomes a freeagent.
