I am a true METS fan. I do not route for any other baseball teams.

Almost every Red Sox or Yankee fan that I have ran into in the past 4 years are most likely bandwagon jumpers from other teams.

And they all can keep on jump'n!!!

No, I'm certainly not a bandwagon fan. I don't know of many people who ARE bandwagoners who will actually admit to being one. Its getting to the point where its absolutely pathetic because they seem to have it planted in their mind that they've "been a fan all along" when really, they couldn't tell you 2 people on the team.

I'm a die-hard Red Sox fan, and that's never going to change. I root for them through their wins and their losses.

im not, i can say that ive been an angel fan as far back as my recolection will take me, to about 1980, if not before
i stuck with them through the choke to the brewers in '82, the choke to the sox in '86, the choke to the mariners in '96 all those terrible teams they fielded in the early to mid 90's, ive stuck by team through thick and thin, through name changes (california, anaheim and los angeles angels) through different color schemes, ive stuck with them from daryll sconiers, rob wilfong and the trading of dante bichette, through gary disarcina's injury, and every other pain i suffered, sometimes they won, usually they lost, so i feel a certain sense of pride that my long suffering team has finally become a model of success, i didnt start like a team that was a model of success, i started liking a team you could love, the cowboy (gene autry) and players like wally joyner, geoff zahn, dick schofield, and ive lived and died by them every season (usually died) until that wonderful arte moreno gave the halos some respect and mike soscia and bill stoneman gave the team some success
and can a fan of the yankees or red sox ever be completely without some sort of band wagon mentality, i mean all your teams have ever known is success
sure the sox werent winning world series, but they were making them, and the yanks have always won them

No such thing..... Unless you have ownership interest in the Yankees and want to ban specific people from liking them or entering Yankee Stadium, then you can't claim yourself as a "true" Yankee fan. If you're a true Yankee fan, would you badmouth Joe DiMaggio for being buried 2,900 miles away from NYC and for living in San Francisco?

I went to NYC on the weekend of 10/21 and while the Red Sox played in the playoffs, the hotel bar I visited had tons of "true" Yankee fans and Native New Yorkers cheering on the Red Sox. Would you prosecute them too and say they can't support the pinstripes?

I support my clubs no matter what. But when the bandwagon starts I always get the inkling to put my gear in a drawer so I am not linked with the clowns looking for seats on the train.

All baseball fans really are at some point, or ought to be. When the Yankees failed to advance this year did you watch the rest of the post season? Did you watch it without emotion at all, or did you pick up a surviving team to root for? I did. I pulled for Cleveland. Then I pulled for Boston.

And then there are those times when either a player from another team wins your fancy and you rather like that team or the team itself does something so you follow it. I liked Seattle when they had Alex Rodriguez. I pulled for my team and I also kept hoping for Seattle to win. It's the same way now that they have Ichiro.

So, to be really honest, I root for my team all the way. But no way does that mean I hate all 29 other teams. Too many good teams and too much good talent to be so narrow minded. And when my team falls, I ache a little and then latch on to the next one.
