It's just the A's history of letting the fan's favorite players go or to trade them away.
Look at Canseco, Mulder, Hudson, Zito, McGwire and all the other players still in their prime that were let go, and won championships with other teams.....

The Jays are my favorite team, but I'm not all that excited about the deal. Scutaro is an offensive upgrade over John McDonald at the shortstop position, but he's by no means an impact player. Deals like this one help, but the Jays need to make a much bolder statement.
I'm not sure about his coolness. I guess I'll be able to judge that more once I see him play on a regular basis.

He is easily replaced by younger cheaper players. Utility IFs are not hard to come by. Despite Scutaro's heroics, those who study the stats know that "clutch hitting" is primarily luck that does not repeat itself in future years. Scutaro's OBP is simply too low for him to be valuable, and his lack of upside makes him not worth the salary. I like him to, but losing him won't cost the A's a single game, lowers payroll and allows someone else to get a chance.

Why would someone trade for him would be a better question. A career .259 hitter with no power. 1-for-15 in the ALCS. Fielding stats show he's slightly below average at all positions, but I guess there's enough value in versatility. Either that, or they Jays want a guy with a cool sounding name.

I'm not sure where your evidence is that Marco Scutaro is a good player. It doesn't matter if he is the "coolest." He's only a so-so player at best. Unless you can show me stats, numbers, or figures on him that I have missed...the guy isn't worth keeping around.

Billy Beane doing his thing. This guy knows talent. I'm sure the next person to take his spot will do as good or better in time.
