I'd give him a little more time before judging him, simply because he had some pretty big shoes to fill.
I know he caved on the ARod issue, but it was really for the benefit of the team. George Steinbrenner is a tough act to follow, and I think Hank was just trying to emulate his dad when he claimed they didn't want Alex back. Ultimately, I think he made the right decision. He does deserve credit for keeping his free agents in town, too.
I'm not a Yankees fan, but I'm withholding judgment until I've seen more of Hank in action.

If his father ought to check, he can study too! all of us recognize that Arod tremendously lots bamboozled Hank into that monster contract, and that i recognize Hank is respiratory hearth approximately it now that Arod continues to be owed over one hundred ten mil. over the subsequent 5 yrs, and he breaks down extra commonly than a Yugo! in my opinion i think of he's discovered his lesson, however the Yanks are saddled with some heavy contracts, and do no longer need the skill to make any actual strikes until after a number of that money comes off the books. For innovations-blowing now, the Yanks could desire to easily journey out the undesirable contracts ( they are going to nevertheless win ninety 4+ video games) and concentration completely on the farm device. by using the time Arod, Jeter, CC, and Tex's contracts are up, the Yanks could have some new faces in there to make yet another superb 10-15 year run!

The season has not even started yet and already casting doubts towards Hank......Give him time at least wait until the All Star break and see how the Yankees are doing mid way through the season.....The winter mtgs are not even over yet the team has not made any real moves this off season except keeping the Free agents and signing A-ROD but we all knew that was going to happen....I do have to give him credit he is not trading their young talent for washed up players like his old man use to do......they are listening to Cashmen and company regarding the baseball operations and to me that is something to be happy about!!!

I think he's a good owner and barring he actually gives in and trades for Santana I think he's ok. George was not all that great sure he was willingt to
spend money but he meddled too much in the Yankeeon feild dealings and it cost them in the 80's and it's costing them a lot now . I understand wanting to win but don't mortgage your future to do it.I'm a Indians and Yankees fan

Not intimidating enough to force the Twins into a trade, though, thus not getting Santana, and keeping Melky and Hughes. hasn't stayed true to his words and has negotiated with A-Rod.
Ironically, I happen to like both of these moves. ( or non-moves )
Of course, having an owner like Mark Cuban wouldn't hurt.
edit: saying in public that He will not negotiate with A-Rod if he opts out of his contract, and then willing to negotiate when A-Rod wants to come back, is NOT staying true to his words. If it was, Hank would say " But you opted out, so go away now".
Sitting Scott Boras out was not an accomplishment. For all we know, Boras was sitting out and laughing at Hank, while playing tetris or something.
Instead, he handed that man a 300 million dollars contract.
So yeah, I have checked the FACTS.
I am not saying that I don't like A-Rod's return, but Hank is not George. He likes to sound tough.

If your definition of good is an owner willing to spend money and field a winning team for the fans than he has to be considered one of the best.

I agree..I think he's a George wannabe and will always be in his Dad's shadow...tough to live up to...I don't see him as a good owner and he'll eventually be pressured to sell the team when the Yanks continue their World Series drought for the next few years...especially if the Sox get Santana..

I agree with IAX and Kris on this one.
when hank said he will not talk to A-Rod after he opts out, but negotiates with him after he opts out, even when a-rod crawled back, hank is contradicting himself.

are you KIDDING?! He's the best owner out there. He don't take no shiet from anyone. I love him. He stays true to his word. Anyone saying that he doesn't isn't paying attention to the facts. He didn't negoitate w/ A-Rod, A-Rod came to HIM. There's a difference.
Kris: See "there's a difference"... I know it's hard for you to understand. Some friendly advice from me would be for you to go back to school. It's not my fault I'm smarter than you.
