A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Boston Red Sox fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were Red Sox fans, too.

Not really knowing what a Red Sox fan was, but wanting to be like their teacher, hands explode into the air. There is, however, one exception. A girl named Lucy has not gone along with the crowd.

The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Red Sox fan."

"Then," asks the teacher, "what are you?"

"Why I'm proud to be a Yankees fan.", boasts the little girl.

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Lucy why she is a Yankees fan.

"Well, My Dad and Mom are Yankees fans, and I'm a Yankees fan, too!"

The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron, What would you be then?"

A pause, and a smile. "Then," says Lucy, "I'd be a Red Sox fan."

He is back in Cleveland where his career started...old buddies coming around...last year of his contract with Sox, probably would love to return home to Cleveland and he damned sure didn't swing his bat like his past games this year...just wondering.

I’m not an expert on baseball, but I heard that Dice-K is supposed to be the best pitcher for his generation in Japan and the most expensive Japanese baseball player who came to MLB ($100/5 years including negotiation fee.). After watching his pitching last night (and the whole season ERA4.4), I don’t think he is better than Hideo Nomo at his prime. Or am I missing something? (Although much better than Igawa) RedSox should've used $100M to get a Cy Young winner instead.

nice article about Jeter partying in Miami and leaving two women upset at the front desk when they had to pay for parking until he took care of business (finally). Then the article says he did not even seem interested in the hordes of women around him while he was out clubbing. So how does it feel to know that your stud player is out partying while you sit here sniveling as a Yankee fan? http://www.nypost.com/seven/10162007/gossip/pagesix/pagesix.htm

I was watching the Colorado Rockies last night as they celebrated their LCS win over Arizona. A lot of the players wore goggles to protect their eyes as champagne was sprayed in the locker room. I haven't seen this happen until this year. Do you find goggles to be a good protective measure, or just plain odd - thoughts?

Looking over this past year and the postseason at what this amazing rookie has done, I think he definitely deserves to be NL ROY Does anyone out there think he doesn't? Voice your opinions!

My contention is that unless they improve that horrible pitching staff, the relief corps in particular, no manager, regardless of who he is, is gonna be able to turn them around. Any thoughts?

I still watch the postseason. I don't watch it as much I watch the Mets during the regular season, but I pick a team and root for them. I picked the D-Backs until they got eliminated. Now my team is the Indians. If they get eliminated I'm picking the Rockies. So far I haven't really been lucky. First the Mets, now the D-Backs, next the Indians, then the Rockies. They're all gona lose because I want them to win. Anyway, do you still watch the postseason when your team is gone from it?

Yankees fans were deprived of their favorite anti-Red Sox chant taunt, "1918", with Boston's 2004 World Series championship. The Yankees, of course, have not taken home the trophy since 2000.

With the drought reaching seven years and counting, is it time to begin retaliatory chants next season? While "two-oo thou-sand" doesn't really scan well, "twen-tieth cen-tury" or "last mill-enn-ium" both work reasonably well, despite aiming a bit high in expecting Yankees fen to grasp the meaning and feel appropriately annoyed and/or diminished, which is what a good taunt should achieve.

Has it been long enough to begin the payback?

Would it be more crushing to impose this during the last season of Yankee Stadium, or be a bit more respectful and wait to sully the new park in 2009 (taking the minute risk that the Yankees win it all in 2008 and short-circuit the opportunity)?

And what about ARod? When was the last time the standing league MVP left his team?

Obviously we know the Rockies are in the World Series, but will the first game be there or will it be in either Boston or Cleveland. Is it based on who has the better regular season record or what criteria is it based on?

Impossible of the impossible just happened. I dont think anyone, anyone ever predicted that Colorado Rockies would be a NL Champion when season started. I am so shocked this actually happened.

Winning 21 out of 22 is absurd...
7-0 post-season record is amazing...

did Arizona Diamondbacks sucked as hell or did Rockies played well?

Do you think that Colorado Rockies can actually beat AL champion for World Series? can they go 4-0 in the world series? Did anyone go 11-0 in the post season including World Series?

lose their fan base after taking them to the series? Being that Colorado sits alone in baseball's dead zone (Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho, Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas), do you think there's a new fan base forming because of their success? Their fans seem crazy just like big market teams. Are they the perfect team to have a new dynasty form; bad division, young, franchise players, they're not named after something that swims in water...?
