I was watching the Colorado Rockies last night as they celebrated their LCS win over Arizona. A lot of the players wore goggles to protect their eyes as champagne was sprayed in the locker room. I haven't seen this happen until this year. Do you find goggles to be a good protective measure, or just plain odd - thoughts?

Keep in mind that champagne celebrations have been going on for years in other sports without people worrying about corks or alcohol in their eyes - response?

The famous battle cry, anywhere but the eyes. I hope you are not upset that catchers wear a cup.

They're not just PPDs they're more like a party mask. Something the Dbacks can't wear. It goes with the division t-shirts and hats that they put on. I think it's a great Idea as not only does champagne sting, a champagne CORK could cause you to lose an eye and end your career.

Matt Wise is pretty funny. I've had the pleasure of getting to talk with him during a couple games in the bullpen. Also the girl who mentioned Ryan Dempster, he is a class act 100%! I am a Brewers fan living in Ilinois. 2 years ago we went to the Cubs-Brewers game for my friend's bachelor party. We all had the same shirt on so he came up to us before the game. He asked us where we were going after the game. He said if we go over to KC Moran's he'd meet us out for a beer. He actually did and bought us a round and drank one and chatted with us for about 30 minutes. He came by himself and made the trip over to see us. That was really cool of him and totally made the party. Very down to earth guy. It was also cool that I was on every sports show wearing a shower cap and refusing to throw back the Brewers home run ball! Just thought I'd share that Ryan Dempster story because he indeed is a great guy.

Spraying champagne is a bad idea in the first place. Goggles are proof that it's stupidity.

These multi-millionaires have no understanding of their fans' money struggles to afford inflationary season tickets that have been in the family for years.

Frankly I hate football coachs having huge drums full of Gatorade poured on them when the team wins also, especially in bitterly cold playing conditions.

It reminds me of roudy teenaged bad boys, smashing booze bottles on the road; except they have the decency to drink it dry first!

I think it's an ingenious thing to do! I couldn't help but laugh at how silly they looked, but heck....looks don't matter when you just won the NLCS.....lol!
But back to the question......It is better than getting stinging champagne in your eyes or even a cork!

It's better then having the cork hit you in the eye and losing your eye? It would be hard to be a one eyed baseball player.

you will be glad he wore goggles, when he doesn't go blind and can still play in the series.
