Baseball - October 2007

I really want to play baseball because of a couple reasons. 1.) I think I'd be a great shortstop....and 2.) I love baseball. Here's my dilemma...I'm a 16-year-old girl and I don't think they'd allow me to play baseball....softball maybe...but not baseball. The thing is...I don't want to play softball. I REALLY want to play baseball! How can I convince everyone that I'd be a great baseball player?

the Yankees, then I feel that Terry Francona should also be fired for not starting Josh Beckett in the crucial game 4 of the series this year vs. the Indians, a must win game, instead he starts 41 year old Tim Wakefield, the knuckleballer. He said he did this because he didn't want to mess up his rotation and wanted guys like Schilling and Dice-K to have full rest for games 6 and 7. Well, wah wah wah, this was a must win, he should've pitched his 20 game winning ace, the youngster Beckett, who might've evened the series at 2-2. Now, the Red Sox backs are against the wall and have to win 3 straight against a very good team. Francona should be fired for this poor decision if the team loses, you agree?

now, the Sox are down 3-1, and have to win 3 straight. Seems like a very dumb move. A move that should get Terry fired in my opinion, if the Sox fail to make the WS, you agree?

I may be just imagining things during regular season-that the teams line up on the field to do the traditional "good game" claps. (Maybe they don't.) But if they do....

Why does it stop during post season play?

I have been watching the ALCS with my fiance (a new baseball fan-avid soccer fan) and he pointed it out to me and asked why. In being able to answer all other questions about baseball that he had, I could not answer this one.

please explain.

Just noticed that a certain "top contributor" has blocked me as well as many others, in his Bio he says, "if you are on my blocked list it is because you are clueless about Baseball". How does one become clueless about baseball when 90% of the questions in here have nothing to do with baseball knowledge and more to do with "Why does this team suck?"

Most of the time, coaches make the best decisions for their teams.

Most of the time.

They know all the players. They know the strategy. They know a lot of little things about injuries and attitudes and intangibles.

But sometimes, maybe just rarely, the fans and commentators see something they don't.

Everbody was talking about having Josh Beckett pitch on three days rest. I think Francona made the right decision. Beckett needed the rest.

But, he's got to replace Coco Crisp with Jacoby Ellsbury!!! We all know that Coco isn't going to suddenly start hitting in the next game.

Actually, I was kind of surprised that Betencourt didn't drill him in the 8th last night. But after that showboat move standing at home plate with his arms in the air and his team trailing by 4, he deserves to get plunked. That's like a guy who does a sack dance while his team is losing by 30 points.

I think as the team ace, CC has no choice but to drill him.

The Indians are up 3-1. Are the Bo Sox finished, or will they make a comeback?

A) That they were gross underacheivers, who should have more trophies in their display case.

OR

B) Their one World Series title was a fluke.

Feel free to add a "C" if you feel it is merited. I'm genuinely interested in various opinions.

If the moron keeps posing at the plate, espcially when it isn't a late inning game tying or walk off homerun. If the Tribe is up big or down big look for manny to catch one in the ear flap.
