Just noticed that a certain "top contributor" has blocked me as well as many others, in his Bio he says, "if you are on my blocked list it is because you are clueless about Baseball". How does one become clueless about baseball when 90% of the questions in here have nothing to do with baseball knowledge and more to do with "Why does this team suck?"

It has to do with Baseball when that person posts constantly in Baseball and is states in his Bio that he blocks people for lacking baseball knowledge. Brett if you would like to block me for any reason that is fine but do not claim that someone has no knowledge that has clearly demonstrated knowledge.

Top Contributor is tallied by "Best Answers" in a certain category.

Astroph...

I am saying that I do not like being blocked for lack of knowledge when I haave demostrated knowledge and would like the opportunity to gain points when a legitimate question is asked.

I agree with Pattyboy. I know I was one of the people blocked and then I read that this person blocks those lacking in baseball knowledge. I know for fact that I do not lack baseball knowledge. While I would not qualify for a stat position at Cooperstown, I am not an ignoramus, either. I dealt with it by also blocking that person, as I have no use for such childish behavior - if I was being blocked for such foolhardiness then I did not want his answers coming up on questions that I presented which is why I blocked him. I have no clue who the person is and do not care. He is smallminded and shallow, someone who gets his rocks off by blocking others and posting inflammatory reasons for doing so. He will probably read these posts and gloat, like a serial killer lording over the trophies from his kills. View him as the useless and limp being that he is and move on.

I have been blocked also. The same person who blocked @secretsauce also blocked me. She doesn't like it when her idiotic statements about evolution are refuted. I have also been reported and my answer deleted several times because those reporting me do not like it when I expose the lies they use about evolution. And it seems that it is impossible to get Y!A to reverse the deletion. For example, in a couple of cases the reporter had used links to web sites that used despicable arguments against evolution and I exposed them for being despicable. I tried to get my answer reinstated but apparently the hypocrisy of the deletion did not mean anything. By the way, it appears that my punishment for being reported is to have my avatar label as a Top Contributor also deleted. Added: @im: "You can be blocked from communicating with an Answers member, but you can't be blocked from answering the question of any Answers member. " Wrong! If the member blocks you, the question does not come up when you click on it. Instead there is a message saying you cannot access the question at this time. Added: @Mithroramir: "The big bang theory is the scientific creation story, but it claims that light cannot age (relativity theory) and yet it does age by virtue of the backround microwave radiation discovered by Penzias and Wilson. So which of these two mutually exclusive propositions is true? " You don't understand what the cosmic microwave background is. The expansion of space from the time of the big bang has stretched the original radiation to a much lower frequency. Big Bang theory held that the original radiation would have stretched by a certain amount and that amount was what was measured. That measurement provided confirmation of the Big Bang. You need to get your information from reliable sources (or is what you said just something that you erroneously came up with in your own mind).

This isn't a baseball question by the way.

Do you think, under whatever circumstances that you deem acceptable, that you should block someone?
Probably.

Would you feel it acceptable that you have to explain that to others?
Probably not.

I have blocked people that ask useless questions and if that person was a 'top contributor', I wouldn't care. It's unknown what they base a top contributor on, but it's obviously not quality.

Edit to asker:
Three things
1) my mention that I have blocked people who ask useless questions doesn't refer to you. There is one person that asks questions like "Do you think xxx had wheaties for breakfast?" Those are useless questions.

2) According to Yahoo answers, getting a top contributor designation is a combination of things that they refuse to specifiy. I was a top contributor in baseball and my best answer rate was 12%, it's at 14% now and I have since lost that designation. So, in all fairness, I don't think you know the exact formula when clearly they say it's a secret.

3) The reason this isn't a baseball question is that you are asking about someone's behaviour and reason for behaving that way. In as much as you can substitute "baseball" with "knitting" and the question remains the same.
Your reason for putting it in the baseball section however is logical, you are asking the baseball community. I'm just saying because it's justified, it doesn't necessary follow that it's on topic.

Wouldn't the fact that you think that 90% of the questions here have nothing to do with baseball indicate that you would agree that 90% of the askers are clueless?
Why worry about it?

Certain top contributors BLOCK people because they are afraid looking stupid when someone who is smarter then they are gives an intelligent answer!!!

Can you say "twit?" If your opinion doesn't match his, then he has you & others blocked? He's been an expert for how long? (in his own mind)

Pattyboy...You said it all. :)
