I really want to play baseball because of a couple reasons. 1.) I think I'd be a great shortstop....and 2.) I love baseball. Here's my dilemma...I'm a 16-year-old girl and I don't think they'd allow me to play baseball....softball maybe...but not baseball. The thing is...I don't want to play softball. I REALLY want to play baseball! How can I convince everyone that I'd be a great baseball player?

I can understand that without taking offense. But I do have one more question....and this isn't meant to sound defensive or anything...
Why do they let girls on t-ball and coach pitch teams, but when high school rolls around, they don't let girls play? I know a girl who played t-ball and coach pitch and I think she would have really loved to play baseball more...
It just seems kind of sexist to me.....that's all.....and I'm reallly not being defensive at all...

I can't answer this question honestly without offending you.
That being said, there is a reason why boys play baseball and girls have softball. Girls are not good enough athletes (genetics) to compete directly against boys. Sorry.
EDIT: It's a safety issue. Boys and girls are about the same level physically until 12 or 13, then their bodies start to develop differently.

You're lucky to even have the option, my high school (In Wyoming, the only state without it) didn't have baseball or softball, you had to play competitively in the summer if you wanted to play at all! They can't stop you from trying to play, but there's little chance you will play unless you are just as physically developed and talented as the boys. My wife played college softball and loved it, got a full ride and had lots of great times, so there is nothing wrong with softball and you will actually give yourself more of a future going that route, sorry but thats just the truth. Whatever you decide work hard and don't give up, Go Rockies!

You are posed with a big problem. Baseball is a great game, and I understand why you be interested in playing it. I am a high school baseball player myself, and I think that in order to have any shot at playing for your high school team you must put in a great deal of work this winter. If you want to impress the current players and coaches, you need to have baseball skills required to make the team in the fall. Most teenage girls don't posses these skills, so if you come to the spring tryout on the same skill level as the other boys, you will defiantly attract attention. If you know anyone who plays baseball or knows how to play, talk to them, and see if they can teach you the skills you need to know. Throwing, hitting, running, and catching are key essentials necessary to succeed on the field. Good luck with your task; it is a large one, but I believe you can conquer it if you put your heart to it.

You ask for the manager and explain to them exactly what you wrote here. You will be surprised how willing local businesses are to help. Don't forget local pizza shops. McDonald's. Just about any business in town will often help. They don't have to have a tie in to baseball. Just make sure you display who donated the prizes.

sounds like it's a town thing- I've seen girls play on baseball teams in high school- but not college- they have to do all the same tryouts as the boys....

Well here's the deal.
I'm sorry, but you won't be able to get anywhere in the MLB so if you want to be successful with baseball you'll have to get into softball. I know its stupid but thats how it is and no one can do anything about it.
Good Luck!
