It happened to Detroit last year. The long layoff took the momentum away. Eight days is just too many. There is no need at all for that kind of delay. The tickets are sold already. The TV crews can get there in 2 days easily. So why the long break?? Is there a week of hype?? No! It actually makes some fans not care and they don't watch because really, a week without baseball when your teams season is over, it is hard to get excited to watch after a layoff that big.
All this does is make it that much colder for the games. It is a horrible idea and another blunder that will probably cost Colorado the most.

It certainly won't help them. Look at last year's Tigers. They beat up on the Yankees and A's, but because of that, they had a week layoff, and as a result, looked awful in the World Series. They had all the momentum going into the World Series, and were much better than the mediocre Cardinals. You could tell the Tigers were hurt by all the time off. They forgot how to field, hit, and pitch. All those errors by the pitchers last year were as a result of being rusty. If they had just a couple of days off, the Tigers would have swept the Cardinals, no doubt in my mind.
I can also remember the 1996 Yankees. They had six days off, and the Braves just one day off. The Braves destroyed the Yankees in the first two, but the Yankees came back and won the next four. I think the Indians are too strong for the Rockies though, they are really peaking right now.

It should affect the hitters more than the pitchers I would think.
However, that being said, I don't think it matters much.
All 4 NL playoff teams barely made it in.
Phillies by 1 game, Chicago by 2, Arizona by 1 and Colorado needed a one game playoff.
This clearly demonstrates that the league was fairly even and no team dominating
St. Louis was 6 games under .500 and finished 7 games back.
With the time off and the Indians pitching and hitting, I think they will actually roll over the rockies.
Yes, 7 straight wins was pretty impressive, but they were against teams that eked into the playoffs.
Cleveland, with the major's best record beat Detroit by 8 games and Detroit, had it been in the NL would have been within 2 games of the NL lead.
Funny name of the day Red Sox>Indians. I guess this guy hasn't been watching.
How much did that offense cost?

It could go either way. If you ask most teams they would say they like playing everyday in the post season it keeps them sharp. There are some that say pitchers and catchers need this kind of break at the end of the seaon to rest their arms and knees.
No matter what theres a lott of good baseball left to see in the World Series. I would love to see dem Injuns make it so we can crown a new Champion or one that hasn't won since the 1940's.

I think they will lose some steam, but they won't necessarily lose it all. A lot of it could depend on how they spend their time. If the Rockies just relax then they will lose steam, if they play simulated games everyday then they could be too tired.
I think it may also depend on how quickly Cleveland finishes off the Sox. If Cleveland wins the next day then they will have about 5 days rest too, so the time off will be less of a factor.

Maybe but I wouldn't count on it. It will be fairly important for the Rockies to win the 1st game though, to keep their momentum going.
The Indians are the better team really, but no one can tell the Rockies that. I really doubt that they'll go down easy. Looks to me like a long series.

I have to agree with you to some extent. It kind of reminds me of the college football bowl games. For whatever reason the teams sit for sometimes a month before playing a bowl game and it shows. The Super Bowl is another example of teams cooling off.
I know this is baseball but it would have to apply in basically the same way.

No, I don't think so. After a long season, who couldn't use some time off to rest. Plus, it's not like they are going to go on vacation to the Bahamas. I'm sure they will work out everyday and probably have a short simulated game in there somewhere.

the easy answer is that it makes the warmth currents and the chilly currents change places. Btw, 'El nino' skill 'the youngster' (male). that's named after Jesus Christ, via fact it happens in December, around what the Spanish human beings regard as Christmas.
