I heard that he did, during the 1978 season, before his 44-game hitting streak, but I find that improbable, since he was primarily a singles and doubles hitter--didn't he hit something like 280 HR in his career?

As the MLB playoffs approach, I want to know why you think Tim McCarver should be banned from the broadcast booth for the playoffs. OR if you like Tim McCarver, why you think Tim McCarver should not be banned.

I personally believe that his comments make no sence and his timing is terrible. Either he is stating something totally obvious, or he's spouting off some obscure bizare statistic. And regardless of his comments, he refuses to shut up when the ball is in play.

Please Tim, take a leave of absence for the month of October!

On July 4, 1939 the Orioles were playing the Giants. Who lost? Did the Orioles win? Or did the Giants win? Note: this was the day that Lou Gehrig quitted baseball because of ALS.

You've all seen the people who answer a question and then say come to rootzoo.com and ask the question there because you'll get the best responses. Isn't this in violation of yahoo guidelines and an example of exploiting the community? The guidelines say you can post a link to a PERSONAL site if your site has more information on it that is directly related to the topic . The thing about rootzoo is that it might not have more information about the topic unless you ask a question there. Also, there are many users that post links to rootzoo, so obviously it isn't a personal site. Rootzoo is also loaded with ads, which means the more people they bring to their website, the more money they can charge for ads which according to Yahoo is spam and not allowed. What do you all think about this?

Look at the numbers:

.316 BA, 28 HR, 96 RBI, 98 Runs, 31 SB, 166 Hits, 85 BB, .411 OBP

Also a not great, but good .952 fielding percentage.

have historically had the best and most recognizable players in all of baseball? Why hate/blame George Steinbrenner for trying to buy the best players in the game when it would be MLB who is to blame for allowing it?

under 37,000, but they list it as a sell-out, and have said Fenway has sold out like for 5 straight years or something. For instance, the game last night against the D-Rays was a sell-out, but the listed attendance was 36,907. What about these other 1,800 or so seats? How come I don't see the attendance in the box score for Fenway at over 38,000?

Untill The Tggers and Indiasn choke and lose the division to white soc? They have both been riding on luck this year. So have the Red soc and Yankees. They have all been lucky. Yankees have no hitting, Indians go no pitching, Tigers got no closer, and Red Sox have no braines. White Sox will pas them all and win the world series. They are good. They have Dye, Thome Crede and Rowand. They sweep series against the Indians then Tigers and beat Red Sox in Alds and Yankesi n world series. Do you agree with me or not?
