That depends on how self-centered they may be. MVPs ooze with talents and stats, but are they indispensable? With the Yankees, for example, I'd stick with Derek Jeter, the captain, over Alex Rodriguez, the MVP. These Yankees are not at all the same Yankees without Derek Jeter. A-Rod can be traded away for two or three players of lesser talent and cash, and the impact would be minimal to the Yankees, who have more than enough resources to compensate.

It's rare to see a guy like football's LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers, who is not only the team MVP (and the reigning MVP of the NFL!) but also a real team leader, and a genuinely good person. The Chargers absolutely cannot afford to lose him.

our mvp is either josh beckett or ortiz/lowell

man ram hasnt been himself this year and is hurt.

ortiz has roughly 30 hr, close to 100 rbi

why they didnt produce (ortiz and ramirez) lowell was doing it in their place, when manny and ortiz got hot, they took over HR and RBI from lowell, but Lowell is back in the lead with rbi for the red sox with 103.

Beckett goes out their and pitches with brain and talent and holds the best record in baseball at 18-6

not exactly what you are talking about but I happen to know a very great guy that was MVP in wrestling ,football and baseball. There were people trying to hire him in the big leagues, but his father's last dying wish was for him to not get into football that way .That was his choice over all though, so he never got into baseball.Which he still could but maybe needs a little push in the right direction. To know him is to love him he is like Elvis Presley reincarnated spittin' image, and personality, but no one seems to be interested in that except the towns people who call him Melvis.Matthew is his 1st name.

I root for the Pirates-- our team MVP has been irrelevant since 1992.

They always seem to think they are more important than they really are, so I guess it depends on who you ask.
