Absoulutley - And im a Yankee fan, it's in my blood to make up some diss about David Wright and the Mets. But I dont do that.
But, I think Fielder should win it. The way Howards batting average is looking, Wright should come in a close 2nd or 3rd.
Rodriguez is going to pass on the paton to Wright when he gets old and starts to wear down.
Same thing with Jeter - Reyes.
Right now Wright is having a all around great year and if thier was a M.V.P. for the NL East Wright should win it. He is having a mini '06 Jeter year.
P.S. Congrats to Wrights homer last night!

I've answered this before, but I'll do it again.
Since there is no hitter in the NL who is putting up numbers far ahead of anyone else in any major category or multiple categories, the voters will likely choose the MVP from a playoff team, most likely a division winner. So the players like Utley or Rollins who have also put up good all around numbers will not win it. If they had put up figures that made it clear they were the best in the league, the voters would feel better about voting for them. But even those voters who feel that MVP should go to the best player rather than the best player on a winning team will have a hard time justifying voting for, say, Utley over Wright if the Mets win the division and their numbers are comparable. Wright, while he's not at the top of any category, is in the top ten (OK, tied for 11th in HR's right now) of hitting, RBI's, and steals. Add that to solid play defensively (Low percentage, true, but spectacular plays are common) and the fact that there's nobody on the Cubs or DBacks who is having a great year, it's between him and Fielder. As for Fielder, just winning the HR title is not enough to be named MVP, especially since he's hitting below .300 and has barely above 100 RBI. Peavy won't win it since, while he may win the pitching triple crown, that's more due to no other starter having great numbers. He will probably not even win 20 games. There is zero chance of a starting pitcher with fewer than 20 wins being named MVP.
So, looking at the league, as long as he gets to 30 HR's and over 100 RBI, I think he's the clear favorite.

What a great question. He started out very slowly but then came on strong with each new game of the season, Still, I don't think he'll get the MVP, but he could. (There is also no doubt in my mind that both he and Jose Reyes will be MVPs someday.
To be honest, I don't think anyone in the NL stands out as a clear favorite (unlike A-Rod in the AL).
I think Jose Reyes, Jake Peavy, Prince Fielder, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Takashi Saito, Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday all have a shot at it this year.
A lot depends on who has the best September and which teams make the playoffs.

Of course he deserves strong consideration and should probably end up winning it. And by the way for people who don't even watch baseball and just look at the stats, please don't consider yourself an expert. But anyway, even if you do look at the stats, he has the best overall numbers anyway. He hits for average, power, and he's a great base runner. And I don't only mean with stolen bases, but going first to third, tagging up second to third, he's as good as anyone. His on base percentage is over .400 too, and that is incredible for any player. He's becoming a great fielder, he saves a lot of runs in the field. other candidates would be Fielder, Byrnes, Braun, Ramirez, Holliday, Cabrera, and Utley, but I think besides Ramirez, he will be the best overall player in the NL for a long time. And I'm a Yankee fan too. And also who ever said he shouldn't get consideration for the award has never watched a game in their life.

Would the Mets have a significantly disadvantaged team without Wright, how about everyone else.
That's what the MVP is all about, not the best #'s.
Would the Mets be significantly worse without him?
I must agree that the Mets would be better off without Wright than the Padres would be without Peavy. With fielder, there is always Fielder and Braun
The Mets have Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Delgado. I am not convinced 3/4's of those players couldn't have done almost as well as the entire group of 4.
You can guess who I am not in favour of winning the AL MVP huh.

Here are the possible candidates...
5. Matt Holliday - Pros - Great ba, hr, and rbi
Cons - Plays in coors field...numbers away from home are average
4. Chase Utley - Pros - Leading league in ba
Cons - Power numbers average
3. Albert Pujols - Pros - He's got the numbers all around
Cons - Will probably not make the playoffs
2. Prince Fielder - Pros - Leading league in hr's
Cons - average ba, team may ot make playoffs
1. David Wright - Pros - He's got the strongest all around numbers, playing a tough position for the best nl team.
Cons - not leading the league in any statistics
Lets not forget that not only are Wright's numbers great, he has been getting better as the year has progressed, and he has had many clutch hits....take last night for example.

Here are my MVP Candidates in no order: Derrek Lee (Cubs), David Wright (Mets), Chase Utley (Phillies), Matt Holliday (Rockies), Prince Fielder (Brewers) and Ryan Howard (Phillies).
Out of all of those guys, Id say the guy with the best chance to win it is Prince Fielder. He leads the league in homers, and if the Brewers can make the playoffs, then he should win it. On the other hand, if the Phillies make it, then either Chase Utley or Ryan Howard should win the MVP.

I love the guy and im a big mets fan.... BUT honestly no.... i think either prince feilder, ryan braun, or maybe someone else idk these numbers just dont add up to MVP and it doesnt help that his team is full of a host of MVP canidates id say jose reyes should have a better shot but in the NL this year its not like the AL where Arod should have already locked it up but id be happy enough seeing ryan braun win it as a rookie or see prince become a superstar as long as we still when it all the WS you know what i mean
thanks

Im a Cubs fan and they dont have anyone.
I think that Wright is in the top 3. I think if Brewers fall apart and miss the play-off's by a large amount it gives him a better chance. I think Fielder has the edge right now but people got to remember the award is not for the most HR's hit. Its who was most valueble to there team. The best way to look at it is, if you took that player off that team, where would they be???
