In the age of specialization, over the past several years, does anyone else agree that maybe it's time to re-define the nature of a switch-hitter?

Typically, a switch-hitter will bat on the opposite side of the pitcher on the mound. However, with pitchers who are lefty or righty "specialists", do you think that any switch-hitter who has trouble with a certain pitcher consistently should simply try turning around? It seems to me that a s.-h. should not only be valuable because he can bat from both sides of the plate, but also because he can (or should be able to) bat from which ever side makes him feel more comfortable in any given situation.

Any thoughts welcome! And thanx in advance!

: )

The National League Central has 6 teams competing for the division title, while the American league West has only 4. Most divisions have 5 teams. The recent realignment of the divisions and leagues to me still does't make sense.

He has 751 Home Runs right now and 17 for the year. Also he has 2902 hits. He has told the media he intends to pursue the 3,000 hit record. With all this in mind, do you think he can reach 800? If so, elaborate

I don't want to hear anything about steroids. That topic has been done to death. This is all about pure numbers, stats, and history which is why baseball is so awesome in the first place.

so i was driving one early morning and there was radio talk. i usually dont listen to those, but this one was on barry bonds, so i figured, why not? the story was about how one of the pittsburgh pirates groundscrewman was in a very bad accident and was hospitalized. the team decided to have a ball signed by some big name players and they asked barry, of course, him being an ex pirate....he refused to sign...i'm pretty sure its not that hard to sign unless i guess you have too much "cream" on your hands and cant hold a pen..anyone else got anymore stories of bonds making a complete a** of himself?

I mean 6 homers in 2 days obviously, not 3 homers spread out over 2 games. I don't think this has ever happened, but maybe someone can let me know for sure.

I know he was fun to watch and had an impressive .318 career average, but his OBP was only .360 and he barely cracked 200 homers. And while injury curtailed his career, I'm not sure how much more he would have done given that he was already 35 years old. Great hitter for average, not much patience at the plate. Gold Glove in CF, but no MVPs or truly monster seasons.

I'm on the fence....I'll give the points to whoever can convince me one way or the other. And please, make arguments better than "he was awesome" or anything based on a play he made in a game you happened to watch.

I work at a major league ball park and every morning I walk past the clubhouse and there is a sign posted on the door saying that only male family members are allowed to gain access. Is that an official MLB rule or is it something that is just enforced at this specific park? Does anyone know the specifics on female family members? Women of the media? Is it a superstitious thing?

As i Yankee fan this years inconsistency is killing me. All that money for nothing and i was looking at past year and when they were winning their payroll was under 100 million. Clemens was getting paid 10 mill and all of a sudden he was a prorated 28 mill not even in his prime? I guess good marketing by him by getting vastly overpaid. Since 2000 yankees have spent over 10 millions a year for players like Mussina, Giambi, Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson, and many others. Mussina and Giambi were good for a few years but now are getting paid way to much. I think its time for them to work on getting young players like the Jeter, Posada, Williams, Pettitte, Rivera, and more recently Cano, Wang and Cabrera. I know they are loaded with young talent not quite major league ready but i think its time to unload some old guys and get a team with good chemistry.
