I heard rumors that he could be back around the All Star break, well, here we are.

Another reliever who appears ready for a rehab stint is Kerry Wood, who reportedly is throwing well in bullpen sessions and could report to Peoria for a few outings soon after the break.

It won't take Wood long to rehab because he will be coming out of the bullpen instead of starting, and the idea of having Wood pitch for Peoria manager Ryne Sandberg, even for a game or two, is a marketing department's wildest dream.

If Wood is ready to return to the Cubs by the end of July or early August, the non-stop relief shuttle from Iowa and Double-A Tennessee finally may end.

kerry wood wants to pitch this season but i don't think it will be until later in the season. he started to throw around june 27 throwing 18 pitches on flat surface. so he has a little way to go before coming back

He's supposedly heading to Peoria next week to get in some rehab starts. If that goes well, he should be back within a month:
