Which is better and why?

I think the home run derby is a bit better only due to the star power. I'm glad to see that so many big names in baseball (at least they are big to baseball fans) come out to this event and participate. I'm sick of seeing the Joe Nobody's (for the most part) in the slam dunk contest every year. These aren't even big names to basketball fans. I know there are maybe one or two guys that are B-list guys, but where are the A-list guys like V. Carter, or Lebron when this contest comes around? The dunk contest is a bit more enjoyable due to creativity factor. But I give the slight edge to the home run derby based on the BIG name factor. What do you think?

It is sooooo boring, there are too many commercials and Berman, Morgan and whomever else was announcing sounded really stupid trying to play it up.

How about some other skills competitions and shorten this travesty (less outs, less players)?

I mean, there were only State Farm posters every TWO FEET, in stead of lining every inch of the field, stands, and walls. Obviously, if we're not zeroing in on the advertisements, like good puppets, then nothing is TRUELY being done, is it? Pathetic...

Why do all sporting events have to favor the West Coast? Like, for instance, the MLB All Star Game. It's being played at 8:25 eastern....if they even start on time...which means the game won't get done until after midnight. Why do they do this and why can't games be played earlier?

I think a monkey screeching would be less irritating than Chris Berman saying "back, back, back" for the millionth time, or trying to be funny by saying "that ball landed in (fill in name of California city here)." And they would certainly be more insightful than anything Dusty Baker is going to say.

Barry was going on and on during the homerun derby last night and I am not sure what he was talking about. Does it have any thing to do with allegations of steroid use, clouding his race for the homerun record.

At the half way point of the season, i have to say Dice-K is a good pitcher. However, Wang seems to be just as good if not better. Wang actually is putting up more w's and go deep into games. Was Dice K worth all that money? 51 million up front ? just want to know, what people think. Biased aside.

Joe Jackson served out his punishment: banned for life from baseball. Pete Rose has been banned also. They are really the only two banned players who might otherwise have made it to the Hall of Fame. (Eddied Cicotte could possibly be another.)
My question is this: Now that Jackson is dead, hasn't he served out his punishment and shouldn't he now be eligible for the hall? Won't that be the same with Rose? Isn't baseball big enough to accept them after their punishment?
If new evidence arose to clear either of them or to at least cast doubt on the punishment, they would be considered. Jackson has people who speculate that he wasn't so bad, but no hard evidence backs that. However, without the evidence, does banned for life mean eternity? If not, why not allow them in?

I have listened to the whole steroids issue long enough to come up with my own perspective.....Why is Bud Selig trying make Barry Bonds the scapegoat and not taking responibilty in some way about players using performance enhancing drugs like Steroids, Meth, HGH and so on? This could of been avoided a long time ago if the MLB put in a drug testing policy like the NFL a long time ago! Granted it was wrong for players to use them but if it was more of a don't as then don't tell policy! Barry Bonds is a great player Period!!! I have watched the guy for years and steroids does not help a person see a ball better or decide which pitch there going to swing for! I think what Bonds did was wrong but nobody says anything about the pitcher's Bonds was facing and how they could of been juiced up as well! Bonds has a a#@ like quality about himself but he is no different from the 100's of other players that took them but there not going to hit 755 with or without Roids! Give the guy his do!

It started out slow and it ended with a fizzle. Young stars like Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard choked, the entire first round over all was a snooze fest. Vlad and Rios only hit 5 homers between the two of them in the finals. One of the worst Home Run Derbys in years.
