Are you confusing baseball in the US with soccer in South America. Of all the sporting events I have ever been to the only fights I have seen have been between pairs of drunk fans at football games.

Having gone to Cubs-Cardinals games both in St. Louis and Chicago for nearly 40 years, I can say that , other then some good natured ribbing, I have never seen anyone have any trouble with the other teams fans. Yes, the rivalry between the Cubs (my team) and the Cardinals is intense but, unlike the idiots in New York and Boston, the fans in the Midwest realize that it's just a game, and although they want to see their team do well, they still respect the other team as well.My parents are originally from central Illinois, so I have many relatives who are Cardinals fans, and although they would rather see the Cubs lose, they still can appreciate when the Cubs do play well, and most of the Cubs fans I know can also give credit to the Cards where credit is due. I don't think either side has the mentality that you see in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry where your team is always great and the other team always sucks, or that you have to love every member of your team and hate every member of the other. I don't know if it's just the way we are in the Midwest, but it definitely is different.
You can be perfectly safe wearing your Cubs gear in St. Louis, and you probably will even meet some Cardinals fans who will want to talk baseball with you as a result. Be yourself and enjoy the game!

The person that answered above doesn't know what he is talking about. Although the Cubs and Cardinals have a very intense rivalry, it is a friendly one. Being a lifelong Cubs fan and going to many Cubs - Cardinals games in St. Louis and seeing Cardinals fans in Wrigley and the surrounding area, I have never seen anything confrontational occur (except maybe a few shouts from drunken fans).

Well in my life I have been to a lot of Cardinal's games. I have taken friends who are Cubs fans and dress up in Cubs gear to a few games. It's not a dangerous place for rival fans even the Cubs, unless you plan on looking for a fight. As everywhere there are drunk fans so just keep away from them and I know you'll have a great time.

Probably not very safe, when it comes to Cardinals fans, we all know how some are, oh wait, nevermind, those are the online fans hiding behind their computer screens, so it should be safe..
But for me, personally I would, it is my right to root and wear the team colors of whatever team i like (Cubs)

Well, since one Cubs fan could easily punch out ten Cards fans, it should be perfectly safe. Remember Cubs fans have been duking it out with Sox fans for years, and Cards fans get no local practice since there's only one team in town. Best to travel in a Cub pack, however.

Cardinal fans and Cub fans have one great thing in common... they are loyal to their clubs. I've never known any series problems between the two at any local watering hole anywhere around their respective ball parks.
That's why there's such a great rivalry between the two.

In St. Louis it's safe. In Chicago, however, it's best just not to go. Not only will you be harrassed if you are for the other side, the yuppies just might puke on you on purpose.
