Yes. They have softened them up slightly. Many players are complaining about it privately. They want no part of this controversy.

When Mark McGwire got close to his single season record, they started using balls with a special mark on them when he came to bat. This was to eliminate the possibility of someone bringing a ball with him to the stadium and pretending that it was the one hit out by McGwire. Anyone buying the ball from someone who had it would be able to verify that it was the true ball because it had a special mark.

They are probably doing something similar for Barry Bonds as he gets close to the career home run mark.

They did change the balls but since 1920 (live ball era). So Barry is lying, and they only time the ball is different and doesnt carry as well is in Colorado because they keep theres in a frig to humidify it so every ball hit isnt a HR.

I guess that he means the fancy commemorative baseballs being used for the All Star Weekend. If there was a change to the official MLB baseball, that's news to me.

im not sure so correct me if im wrong, but i think that if u get like, say, 8 outs, the balls are 8 ounches-or 1/2 of a pound. and 6 outs would be 6 ounches-or 1/3 of a pound, the add 1 ounch to tyhe balls wieght 4 each out

It is amazing how reporters will let a famous person tell blatant lies on TV without evening challenging them.

They are afraid they may get a reputation of begin confrontational. . . then be unable to attract big name folks to talk to them on-air.

Meanwhile the public gets fed pure drivel.

MLB probably would not change what's not broke. Bonds just needs to justify his performance.

When I heard him say that I was wondering what the hell he was talking about. Then my next thought was that he was on drugs, and had no clue what he was saying.
