Why do all sporting events have to favor the West Coast? Like, for instance, the MLB All Star Game. It's being played at 8:25 eastern....if they even start on time...which means the game won't get done until after midnight. Why do they do this and why can't games be played earlier?

The sponsors that pay for the time want the maximum viewing audience possible. The means the west coast has to be part of it and a 8:00 pm start time on the east coast is a 5:00 pm start time in the west coast. At 5:00 pm people on the west coast are in the cars coming home from work and the viewing audience would be much larger with a 8:25 start time.

I don't live on the West Coast, but I am on Mountain Time and can tell you that these starts don't really favor us. I don't really want to watch the All-Star game at 6:25 because that's when I eat dinner, go for a run or biking, and spend time with my kids.

I like the early starts for NFL games (football in the morning is great), but it's not always the best for baseball.

Is this a serious question? When games are on the east coast the west has to worry about games being played at 4 or 5 pm time so it will be prime time in the east. The time of the game is just formality that the game has to overcome due to location.

yea it happens when you try and favor all venues. but that is the most logical time so that all parts of the country get a chance to see the game. its like when a eastern team plays in the west (ex Yankees in Oakland). the game doesnt start til 10PM and wont end until after 1 AM!! but you cant fight it. its just one of those things

my suggestion. TiVO it (if you care that much the AS Game is a joke anyway)

Well if it makes you feel better, I hate games played on the east coast, because they are almost over by the time I get home from work. Cuts both ways, which is why I now have TIVO.

We should petition Congress to contract a time zone -- probably Mountain.

Real fans adapt and overcome, it's been this way for a LONG time and it will never change, invest in a DVR and get over it already......
