I work at a major league ball park and every morning I walk past the clubhouse and there is a sign posted on the door saying that only male family members are allowed to gain access. Is that an official MLB rule or is it something that is just enforced at this specific park? Does anyone know the specifics on female family members? Women of the media? Is it a superstitious thing?

No. David Wells is still allowed in the clubhouse.

I'm not aware of any such rule, and have on occasion seen female reporters doing interviews from MLB locker rooms. In fact, federal anti-discrimination laws would require that, if males reporters are allowed in, then females must be too. It's possible that the sign you see applies only during times when the clubhouse is closed to the media.

No, the women of the media can still get in there. If not then I need to re-evaluate my future. I'm planning on being a sports reporter and locker-room interviews might be something im looking forward to. haha jk but yes they're allowed in. Perhaps it's just a weird rule with whatever team you work with.

female members of the media are allowed in. A few years ago a NFL team challenged allowing women to the locker room and lost. So pro sports teams have used a media room to avoid this.

Women who are in the media are in there all the time. Why any woman would want to be in there for any other reason is anyone's guess. If you've ever have the opportunity to be in a men's locker room, all I can say is, be sure to bring nose clips (like swimmers use). . . .

The David Wells answer is closest to the truth. The Padres do have a female trainer, Kelly Celebrese.

I am not sure, but I thought women of the media were allowed.
