Baseball - October 2006

My husband is a coach on my sons Minor team , I have noticed that the coaches , including my husband have favorites who play infield .I talked my friend into putting her son in our league . He wound up on my sons team . Great ! Well her son came from a team where he was Catcher , 1st or short stop.
The new coaches (husband too) Keep the new kids outfield.I feel , this new kid may start to not like the game because his position is infield. And others too. They dont even try them out . I talked to my husband and he said "our infielders are really strong" Well maybe the others are too if they try them . Please someone hopefully , former coaches , explain if this is the way to do it . I am getting embaressed when moms go to me to say something.

It would be a quantitative way to rate middle relievers and set up men. Guys like Heilman, Zumaya, Procter, Mota ect... and so forth....

When will the marlins get an owner

i love the marlins

they have the best farm teams in the bigs

they give away every fricken player to other teams...this is why i hate the mets.

marlins would be a dynasty if they held onto mussina,delgado,dlee,pudge,sheffeild,livan,vlad(in AA),peirre....

theyve done a helll of a job this year, but, were would they be if they be if they held all of them?

I think it will be tough.
It will go 7 games, and pitching will be key for both teams.
Would you be satisified with thier season if they went no further?

As a Tiger fan, I am very happy with what they have done so far this year! No One (especially me) expected half of what they have done in April, and yet here we are.

I'd be interested to know how Tigers felt about what they have done so far.

And Yeah, all you tiger haters jump on board too, go ahead if it makes you feel better.

All season, I heard how great the Yankees were because guys like Jeter and Posada brought "intangibles" that helped them win. Now, I hear analysts trying to move these intangibles to guys like Scutaro from the A's and multiple players from the Cardinals.

My feeling is that teams win in the playoffs less because of intangibles, and more because they get good pitching and hitting. But maybe that's just me.

Isn't there anything better for announcers to discuss?

I'm not a pitcher and I'm not looking to play baseball at any major level. I just enjoy playing baseball and softball with my company. I just want to know if I can throw the ball faster. I've played baseball my whole life and I've never had a rocket arm. What can I do to increase my arm speed/strength?

I think the Yankees keep Joe Torre because of Derick Jeter. Jeter stated in one of the interviews on FSN when the intevewier asked what happened if Joe Torre get fired from the yankees. Jeter said "I dont know if I can play for anybody else but him" I think "The Boss" watched that interview and afraid to upset Jeter since Derick Jeter is like "God" for the Yankees and the Yankees fans.

G. Adkins .329 ave, 29 HRS, 120 RBI. M. Holliday .326 ave, 34 HRs, 114 RBI, B. Hawpe .293 ave, 22 HRs, 84 RBI. A great vet in Helton. A nice young, talanted rookie in Tulowitzki (believe me, Ripkin clone. Watched him play in the College World Series). Three nice starters (if they got run support) in Jennings, Cooke, and Francis. And a dominating closer in Fuentes. No one is due for contract until next year so build on what we did this year, and I see a fight in the NL West next year. Remember I said core group. Analize what they have with that.
