The Yankees are simply proof that you cannot buy a team and expect results. You need chemistry and they don't have it.

The had average starting pitching, mediocre middle men and a great closer. Yankee pitching gave up a lot of runs this year and middle relief had trouble not giving up runs .
As a result Yankee hitters had to score a lot of runs to win,2-1 ball games were not the Yankees forte..
They also lacked bench players who could play great D.
Damon is an average centerfielder with a below average arm , in late innings the Yanks didn't have a Paul Blair type of outfielder to plug into that position, as a result aggressive base runners took the extra base and the Yanks couldn't stop them
They had the same problem at first, they were willing to sacrifice the defense in order to get Sheffield's much needed offense
They had the same problem at third. Torre couldn't bench A-Rod because he really didn't have anyone else to play the position, and A-Rod should have been benched.
Still there is hope in NYC, the Mets are on there way to a World Series against Tigers and the Mets should win.

Yanks need to get rid of the following: Cashman, Giambi, Johnson, Mussina, Sheffield, and Rodriguez. Cashman is the most important, since he hired these guys. Get a good defensive third baseman and try to pry Andruw Jones from the Braves for center field. They need good young starting pitchers but adding Barry Zito might not be the worst thing either. If these things do not happen that team will not even win its division next year.

I am not Yankee fan but i think they got to much pressure from Goerge Steinbrenner to keep the Yankees on top of MLB.He has to except the fact that other teams want to win also.

LOL on the tigers fan who's season has been over on condition that April. Now tiger followers have no longer something extra effective to do than hardship appropriate to the yankees. BTW weren't the tigers the pre season favorites to win the WS this year? Alot of folk suggested yanks does no longer make it the the playoffs earlier this season. everybody enjoyed the tigers nevertheless. one extra concern there have been hundreds of the yankees wont make the playoffs threads final year!

Seriously, I hate when people try to make blanket statements to rub into other people's faces. Ohhhhhhhhh, you got all them yankee fans good, I bet that really hurts them.
The Tigers just plain out played them. I was surprised as anybody, but I have to give it up to the Tigers, nicely done.

They lost a five-game series, that's what happened. Anything can happen in such a short series, and this time it happened to the Yankees.
There's no reason to panic in New York, but I know that people will because they don't understand that anything can happen in a playoff series.

Joe Torre is an ineffectual leader, and he has nothing but spoiled millionairs on his bench. They need someone who is going to get in their faces. That isn't Joe...maybe it is time for Lou.
You can't say Yankees suck if Boston didn't even make the playoffs. Papi's been in Boca playing golf since two Fridays ago.

the media gave them a big head they always seem to underdog the detroit teams just like when the pistons beat la but the yankees will always be a threat to win the world series
