I think it will be tough.
It will go 7 games, and pitching will be key for both teams.
Would you be satisified with thier season if they went no further?

As a Tiger fan, I am very happy with what they have done so far this year! No One (especially me) expected half of what they have done in April, and yet here we are.

I'd be interested to know how Tigers felt about what they have done so far.

And Yeah, all you tiger haters jump on board too, go ahead if it makes you feel better.

First off, whomever gave this question a thumbs down is a moron.

This has all the makings of a postseason classic. Both teams have above average pitching and one or two very dangerous hitters. I think it will all come down to defense, and the Tigers have a slight edge there. I am a Mets fan, and want to see my team exact revenge for the 1973 World Series where the A's beat the Mets, but either way it looks to be a good series.

Sure the Tigers can beat Oakland. It's possible, but is it probable? Oakland has a much better pitching staff than the Yankees, and they've been on a roll lately, so it's going to be tough. I think the A's will be a lot harder to beat than the Yanks but it can be done. If you've watched the way Kenny Rogers and Jeremy Bonderman have been throwing, they have both really kicked it up a notch. What the Tigers really need is for their biggest hitters to come alive. Ol' "Pudge" is the first one who comes to mind -- he has been a disappointment thus far, so he needs to get with the program. But hey, even if they don't make it to the World Series they have had a remarkable season.

As a Cardinals fan I kind of hope Oakland wins because the Tigers swept the Cardinals during the regular season.

HOWEVER~~ I love the Tigers for kicking some Yankee butt. I really despise the Yankees. I also loved watching the Tiger celebration after the game. If the Cardinals don't win the world series (i doubt they do) I really want the Tigers to win.

Regular season 2006, Tigers 5, Athletics 4, with 6 of the games in Oakland. I don't know what that tells you other than they are two very evenly matched teams.

Everything I have read and heard from so called experts seem to think the Tigs can do it but it will be tough and take six or seven games.

Since I never thought they'd beat the Yankees anything that happens from here on out I can accept and be satisfied with.

I don't think you can underestimate Jim Leyland and his crew either. They seem to know how to meet each obstacle as it comes.

I'll be watching and be a nervous wreck.

GO TIGERS!

PS Who thinks Mike Ilitch should buy the Detroit Lions!?

I'm not really a Tiger hater, However I am routing for the A's. They beat my Angels so they have my respect and my best wishes.
Sorry the Tigers will NOT win. Good luck though.

As a Tiger fan I am scared of the A's. They have great pitching and great situational hitting, not to mention a GREAT defensive team. Frank Thomas is to be feared and they have 3 very good RPers.... (Calero, Kennedy and Ducheserer)
However i think we have a chance against their closer Street.....

oakland is over-rated-- they always get this far a blow it to whatever flash in the pan is around( this year it's the tigers)--the tigers will go on to beat the mets and then fall back into the lottery as is the pattern the last five years and next year the A's will loose to the bluejays or somthing in the ALCS-- they are the Pacers of MLB - always make it far but never good enough
