Their Opening Day payroll was just over $198 million, and it obviously wouldn't include any contracts they picked up during the season (like Abreu).

I don't fault them for spending too much, though, because at least they're trying to win. As a fan of a franchise that hasn't won the World Series in the past decade, I'd love to see my team spend like that.
