They are starting out as one of the top teams in the west. They did pick up a couple guys in the offseason but nothing major. Ken Hitchcock is a great defensive minded coach (CBJ is #1 in penalty kill and #1 in Goals allowed in the west) and after having a full offseason to get his system in, is this team for real?

I am a huge Pats fan, but I respect the quality our opponent this week.

QBs: Manning is an incredible quarterback that on some levels is better than Brady. I give the nod to Brady because of how clutch he is and always has been. IMHO, the #1 requirement for an NFL starting QB is the ablity to perform under the greatest of pressure.

This is the kind of game where there is so much talent of both sides of the ball, there needs to be an X factor. I think thats Brady's "clutchness" over Manning's.

It will be a semi-shootout in the first half (partially due to the improvement of Indy's D), but the Pats will slow it down in the 2nd half and Indy cant do anything about it. Look for NE to have the ball 20+ minutes in the 3rd and 4th quarters, the Pats will come away with another 30+ point game, and the D will hold Manning's crew to 3 TDs.

Final score:
Pats: 44 (they put up 50+ against #1 D last week)
Colts: 34

I don't have anything against him. Infact I think he might be the greatest april and may baseball player ever. Alex is Mr. May. Does anyone auctually want there favorite team to sign him? When it counts in the postseason he dosn't get it done. If he were to play in the regular season as he does the post season he would be considered a subpar, mediocre average at best baseball player. I can't believe his agent is actually going to ask for an even bigger contract. I'm thinking a team can either sigh a pitching staff, or A-rod. 9 other hitters or A-rod. To me he is not worth the money, because he can't win when it counts. People say it's a team game, but when it counts in the postseason he doesn't even pull his own weight. If he can't win with the yankees who can afford not only him, but other great players, how is he going to win with another organization who will have to decide his salory, or an actual team? To me A-Rod is subtraction by addition. What does everyone else think.

I'm only asking due to the INSANE amount of thumbs down both the Patriots and SEC Conference related questions get.

What's up with that and why?

Yahoo's headline "Teams May Hurt Bradley," appears as the top story. Under "NFL Rumers" the headline reads "Cowher: Bradley Could Be Target Of Cheap Shot" ... "As the New England Patriots pour it on its opponents, fans have to be wondering about it, and Tuesday former Pittsburg Steelers Coach Bill Cowher said it: if the Patriot's keep running up the score, will someone like Tom Brady be the victim of a retalitory hit? The subject of the Pat's late-game tactics is causing a lot of buzz around the NFL, particularly after Sunday's 52-7 victory over the Washington Redskins." What are they talking about? What are the Patriot's late-game tactics?

The winning team has a right to win by as much as it can. The fact that you suck is nobody's problem but your own.

The answer, of course, is that they both started out pitching and then went on to become an every day player. Stan Musial started out as a pitcher in the minor leagues but came to MLB as an every day player and never pitched. Is Rick Ankiel the second best player to make the transition from pitcher to every day player in MLB or can you come up with others?

I am partial to my hometown big red machine for the best starting lineup ever(1976 version).
You can mention the yankee teams of the 20's but I think the discussion should start from the 1950's on because any lineup that had players swinging 50 ounce bats is great for that era but would be ridiculous to compare to the modern game.
Any way as far as my choice considerthe medern era murderers row who also played great defense to boot.

Scott Boras, the agent for Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez, denied that the star player will be packing his bags and leaving for the Chicago Cubs.
Rumors about A-Rod moving to Chi-town have been circulating for the past several day saying he will get a blockbuster contract and ownership in the Cub franchise. The rumors also said that A-Rod is guilty of the old as time, "sock trick." Boras denied that Rodriguez uses a pair of socks to add dimension to his crotch area. "Great players with great demand create great rumors," said Boras. "But," Boras told the Associated Press, "as far as I know, that is all Alex, all the time."
Rodriguez said, "I'm past the sock stage. I may have at one time used the sock trick, but at this stage of my career, I'm genuine." Players in the locker room usually don't lie, and teammates have rallied around their third baseman to support him. Captain Derek Jeter spoke out, "All I can tell you is that I shower with A-Rod everyday and that thing doesn't hang."
