I'm only asking due to the INSANE amount of thumbs down both the Patriots and SEC Conference related questions get.
What's up with that and why?

I would have to agree that the thumbs down on those two topics are way over the top.
It's gone from dislike to passionate loathing in some cases.

We SEC fans are the most passionate fans in the country, and we're proud of it. Neutral observers, like college football analysts/announcers who have traveled across the country, will tell you that. You won't get it until you visit a big-time game in Knoxville, Gainesville, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Columbia, Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, Oxford, or Athens.
I'll admit that passion sometimes breeds delusion, and that some of our fans, including UGA, are off base in their logic at times, but year in and year out, it's the best conference in the nation.

Right now it has to be the Pats. The rest of America is sick of everything Boston right now. Between the Red Sox, the Patriots, Boston College and the resurgent Celtics has lead to America growing tired of everything New England.

Neither. Austin N is the most hated thing in the football category. Austin N should seriously go jump off a bridge to his death. HE IS ANNOYING AS HELL!!!! He must die!!!

I don't know about the Patriots but most SEC all they do is whine and cry and how great they are and how everyone else plays a week schedule. I didn't know Western Kentucky and Richmond were so great.
I wonder why Florida Fans keep forgeting about how Nebraska crushed them 62-7?

I personally only give thumbs down to all Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns fans. I don't care one way or the other about the SEC.

Both..the Pats because they think they are better than they are, and the SEC, because they ARE better than the rest.
