Scott Boras, the agent for Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez, denied that the star player will be packing his bags and leaving for the Chicago Cubs.
Rumors about A-Rod moving to Chi-town have been circulating for the past several day saying he will get a blockbuster contract and ownership in the Cub franchise. The rumors also said that A-Rod is guilty of the old as time, "sock trick." Boras denied that Rodriguez uses a pair of socks to add dimension to his crotch area. "Great players with great demand create great rumors," said Boras. "But," Boras told the Associated Press, "as far as I know, that is all Alex, all the time."
Rodriguez said, "I'm past the sock stage. I may have at one time used the sock trick, but at this stage of my career, I'm genuine." Players in the locker room usually don't lie, and teammates have rallied around their third baseman to support him. Captain Derek Jeter spoke out, "All I can tell you is that I shower with A-Rod everyday and that thing doesn't hang."

They cant guarantee his contract. They wont pick up a 300mil salary right now. A player cant own and play for the same team at the same team. So, this rumor is just a rumor. The contract that is being "talked about" isn't even a legitimate, possible contract in MLB.

If the team was in the hands of Cuban already, this might have some possibility to it [taking away the partial ownership rumor].

That's not gonna happen . When a team is being sold the seller tries to get rid of as much long-term debt as possible in order to make the team more attractive to a potential buyer .Adding a couple of hundred million dollars in long term debt [A-Rods contract ] will make the Cubs almost impossible to sell .
Prediction :Before the Cubs get sold Sorianno and his long term debt will be traded for a player with a much shorter contract

No way man, if the Cubs gave Arod as much money as he wants they wouldn't be able to sign anyone else cause he's askin' for $300 million over 10 years which is $30 million a year or somethin' crazy like that, besides the Cubs (no offense) kinda stink.

I don't think he's going to the Cubs. Besides, I don't even think the deal they wanted to give him is even legal. They were talking about giving him part ownership of the team, a percentage of television revenues and everything. I think he'll end up in San Fransico. With Barry gone, they need somebody to put butts in the seats, and A-Rod is the guy to do it. Plus, they are in a process of rebuiding, and they can do it around A-Rod.

I don't think this is even going to happen, the Chicago Cubs have already spent big money to bring guys like Lou Piniella, and Alfonso Soriano to town, and even money to keep players like Derkee Lee, Carlos Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez in town. But I am not saying that it could still not happen, but i don't think that it will.

It is not legal in baseball to have a player take ownership in a team. So this story is false. Add that to the fact the Tribune Company is in process of being sold, this story is not true.
If the Cubs were not able to drop Jacque Jones' salary earlier this year, why would they be allowed to spend hundreds of millions.
As far as the sock story - wtf man

I'd like to see A-Rod go to the Cubs. I used to like him b4 he was a Yankee (when he was on the Mariners, etc.) During the time he was a Yankee, I HATED him. I'm thinking I'd like him again if he went to the Cubs.

I'd love to see him on the Cubs with their great fans and great history. He can enter the field on opening day riding a goat and the rest will be history!

Arod would be a great addition to the Cubs because they will never have to see him choke in the post season because they hardly see the post season!
