He's not even in my top ten. I'll make a list another time... but saying that Nolan Ryan is one of the greatest pitcher because he has the most strikeouts and the most no-hitters, which is the only argument I've heard is like saying that Pete Rose is the greatest hitter because he has the most hits.

7 no-hitters is impressive. But that is just a tiny bit better than 7 one-hitters, and just a little bit better than 7 two-hitters. In his 773 career starts, 7 games isn't really a lot.

His strikeout total is amazing. But he was a horrible fielder, has the most career walks and led the league in walks 8 times.

He led the league in ERA only twice, never led the league in wins and NEVER WON A CY YOUNG.

He was a very good pitcher and one of the scariest to face but I don't think he should be mentioned among the greats on anyones list. Just my opinion

When asking who the best Heavyweight Champion was, Joe Louis' name comes up often, though Ali's does more often. Had Joe Louis never made his comeback (in which he went 8-2 with 3 KOs) he would have retired with a 61-1 record with 52 KOs. His one loss was a fluke vs Max Schmeling. If he never took on Max the first time, he would have retired at 61-0, if he would have beaten Schmeling the first time he'd have been done at 62-0. On top of this great achievement, he won the title on June 22nd 1937, and retired it on March 1st 1949, giving him nearly a 12 year reign as Champion. Also defending his belt 26 times (most say 25 and wikipedia has him at 27, I am going off of boxrec).

In conclusion would a guy named Joe Louis, who retired with a record of 61 or 62-0 with a record (nearly) 12 year reign (the record still stands in EVERY division) and a record 26 title defenses (the record still stands in EVERY division) be universally recognised as the greatest Heavyweight Champion ever?

I've never been a big fan of him, probably because I'm a Twins fan and he has killed us, especially when he was with the Sox. But he just hit 500 career homeruns, and that to me is a great accomplishment! Is that a guaranteed ticket to Cooperstown anymore? Is anyone glad he hit 500 or does nobody care about the Big Hurt anymore?

Common opinion says Brazil in 1970 were the best, but I am inclined to disagree. Attacking wise, yes they were matchless but their defence was hopeless!

I think the most convincing ALL-ROUND World Champions were Germany in 1990. They could grind out wins, and were sometimes very flamboyant in what was quite a negative tournament. They also had an impressive run to victory, getting past Yugoslavia, Holland, Czechslovakia, England and Argentina to win.

But who says you?

the USA is doing great being undefeated but i dont think they deserve it. If u look at it when is the last time usa has played away in there undefeated record. im not hating im not sure that usa is the team everyone says they are. they only played at home against countries that easy to defeat, yea mexico was a threat but playing against ecuador, china, guatemala(they tied then usa beat them in the gold cup), T&T, El salvador and panama. im pretty sure if usa played half of those teams away they would a couple of losses. if they want respect around the world they need to play real competition in other countries besides there homeland. if u look at there away record usa plays very poorly. i may be negative but its reality, i will give respect to usa if they do real good against argentina and tournaments away

The team that defeated Brazil yesterday had never played together as a team before. please give credit to the players in the field that made an excellent job. ah and brazil did try, but the mexican defense was excellent, and memo ah?? Did you see memo Ochoa?
Stop hating and accept that Mexico defeated Brazil in equalitty of circumstances.
(History reminder: in the Confederations Cup, Mexico A did defeat Brazil A with all their stars)

High performance street cars all are equiped with low profile tires for better handling, however, all of the major race series' run on tires with rather tall side walls. Does anyone know the reason for this. If you look at the road holding ability of the greatest street cars ever made, none of them even come close to a Formula 1 car. I understand there is a huge weight and aerodynamics difference, but the tires in Formula 1 must be the result of more R & D than any other tire in the world. Thanks

Not that I dislike Peyton Manning because he is a snobby player, but Drew Brees is a great developing quarterback. Brees reminds me very much like point guard Steve Nash? He just makes every receiver a better player. Running the offense through Brees, the New Orleans Saints in 2006-2007 had four different players with at least 675 receiving yards or more. Peyton Manning, on the other hand, relies primarily on only two receivers—Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. No player on Indianapolis had more than 380 receiving yards, except Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

Click on the links below to compare the numbers:
http://www.nfl.com/teams/stats/NO/2006/ (Saints)
http://www.nfl.com/teams/stats/IND/2006/ (Colts)

When Peyton Manning and the Colts get slapped by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints on the regular season opening game, Manning is going to realize that his trophy was a total joke.
