Common opinion says Brazil in 1970 were the best, but I am inclined to disagree. Attacking wise, yes they were matchless but their defence was hopeless!

I think the most convincing ALL-ROUND World Champions were Germany in 1990. They could grind out wins, and were sometimes very flamboyant in what was quite a negative tournament. They also had an impressive run to victory, getting past Yugoslavia, Holland, Czechslovakia, England and Argentina to win.

But who says you?

I was opportune only to see the World Cup from 1990 till now. I have been a German fan since then. They were almost matchless in all the departments of the game except probably in the goalkeeping arena. Illgner proved his worth as the competition went on.

Mention would be made of the France team in the 1998 World Cup, Sweden and the Camerounian team of 1990 and the Brazillian team of 1994.

But my vote would be for the Germany team of 1990 World Cup

Argentina '86. The 1990 world cup sucked, not because Germany beat Argentina but because most of the games ended by penalty shootouts, or most matches were won by a single penalty, like the final. It was as boring as last year's world cup.

I'd have to say Brasil '70. Any team that can score four goals into that Italian defense are the best team, and only they could. Although Brasil '82, and Argentina '06 were better to watch. And if you're talking about ALL-ROUND team, Germany '74, they were annoyingly hard to beat. They weren't as good as Brasil '70 though ;)
