the USA is doing great being undefeated but i dont think they deserve it. If u look at it when is the last time usa has played away in there undefeated record. im not hating im not sure that usa is the team everyone says they are. they only played at home against countries that easy to defeat, yea mexico was a threat but playing against ecuador, china, guatemala(they tied then usa beat them in the gold cup), T&T, El salvador and panama. im pretty sure if usa played half of those teams away they would a couple of losses. if they want respect around the world they need to play real competition in other countries besides there homeland. if u look at there away record usa plays very poorly. i may be negative but its reality, i will give respect to usa if they do real good against argentina and tournaments away

US has a short history in soccer specially compared to other countries where soccer has been part of their culture for over a hundred years. Plus the US team does not have the fan base that other national teams have. In spite of that, I think the US team has been improving a great deal and is becoming more and more competitive.
Regarding their performance in Copa America, they have only been invited 3 times - United States (1993, 1995, 2007). They place fourth in 1995.
I agree that they need to play against better teams and get more exposure against the European national teams. They have some friendly games this summer so that might help.

USA may be doing good now, but they will not remain undefeated in the Copa America tourney, I guarantee you that. I have respect for them, I just wish that they received more fan support from the USA, including the media.
Think about it, if the USA wasn't so focused on games like football, baseball, basketball, hockey ....we would probably be up there with Brazil, Argentina, and Italy. Most of those countries are heavy into soccer and other games are a very distant second, especially in Brazil and Argentina.

America is 16th in the FIFA rankings. I don't believe anyone is picking them to win Copa America or putting them ahead of clearly better teams. My question is where is this great respect you're talking about? The team is being trashed in the Argentinian press right now for fielding its best squad in the Gold Cup and sending inexperienced players to Copa America. I don't hear anyone in the US press or in the foreign press saying the US is the greatest squad on Earth.

At the last World Cup, the United States was the only one of seven teams that played Italy and didn't lose. Respectable.
At the previous World Cup, folks I was with in Brazil thought the U.S. outplayed eventual-finalists Germany in the quarter-finals, when Germany won, 1-0. Respectable.
I agree with your "details." It's always an uphill battle for the Americans, in American ways: the media ignores them (even on the TV networks that carry the games), and the majority of fans who go to their games go to support their opponents (representatives of the fans' native countries).
Sigh. PLAY BALL!

It is all a build-up to the World Cup and that is where Team USA had taken a solid right to the jaw. The club is good, no doubt, but it is not in the elite class.....and that is the reason why it generates little interest in this nation.

All teams should be respected since this is a team sport. Still the US needs to prove a lot at international tournaments

You make a good valid point...
I blame the US Soccer Federation......
Bradley decision to send the squad he did to Copa America was not 100% his.....
What did the Gold Cup grant them? Confederations Cup berth and I think thats what the federation wanted.....
Its a shame because this team is not going to get any better playing mediocre competition on their home soil....(No offense to the teams they played).

I think we have a decent team, but if we want to take it to the next level we're going to have to compete with european teams in Europe. Sure it will be tough at first, but it will pay off. Look how much better some european basketball teams are than our team now. Why? Because they took their knocks against the dream teams many years ago.
