I've been participating in R & S for only a short time. In that time, I've seen quite a bit of rich discussion on a wide range of topics. That's great! And it's why I've decided to hang around.

I've also seen some discussion of things that some of us don't like about R & S. It is easy to point to something that we don't like. Or to tell someone else what they should do to fix it. I'd like to challenge the community to do something much more difficult. Tell us what you personally would like to do to make it better.

I'll start the discussion off this way:

When I respond to a question, I would like to take a moment before sending it to read what I have written and think about how the questioner and others will hear it.

It's one thing when you tell people not to have sex while they're alive if they're not married, but if no girl wants to marry him and he lives his life by your rules and then when he's about to die, it's adding insult to injury when you tell him he won't get to have sex in Heaven.

At least you married Christians with your kids know what it's like to have sex! You've experienced it and enjoyed with your spouse, so don't add insult to injury.

Allegorical and/or Metaphorical. Does everyone remain in doubt and confused or is there a way to determine specifically when you are reading an Allegory or a Metaphore? Is there someone in the Christian hiarchy who has the final say or is it an individual interpretation by each Christian?

He was also excommunicated. Mussolini was an atheist. Stalin was an atheist. Himmler was an occultist. Franco was Catholic. The KKK is Protestant. Tojo was shintoist. what religion was Mao? What about Pol Pot? Is it possible that these men had things in common besides their views on religion?

Also does it have to do with science or science fiction.

Why is Scientology not recognised as a religion around the world? For example some European countries will not give them religious status.

Lastly do Scientologists believe in God?

Thank you kindly for your thoughtful replies.

Ok well i am Catholic which means i do believe that God created everything.. But sometimes i wonder who created God? And if it was the "Big bang theroy" like most say how was it created? I mean how were those astroids things created? So this question is not just for believers in God but for everyone... Something has to create something.. Ah i just think about it and get confused.. ANyone else ever think about this?

Outside of the Bible there is very little evidence of Jesus living. There is a list of historians that briefly mention Jesus.

I was wondering did any of these historians live at the same time as Jesus, and also lived near, or saw Jesus. If so if you could please give their name, and a link to a website that at least estimates when they lived.

Also, if you want to throw in any other hard evidence of the Bible, outside of the book itself I would be interested to hear it.

Thanks.

I am a 24 year old married mother to a boy and a girl. My mother is 44 years old. Ever since I can remember, she has been negative most of the time. When my daughter was born (her first grandchild) she was there and she did make an effort to change. But these days it seems like no matter how many good things I do, the moment I screw up she turns against me. She already isn't speaking to my sister or father and hasn't for a long time. Recently her house was broken into, and I drove all the way from my side of the city (the very end) all the way to her side to be there for her and show my support. As well as help clean up. My daughter had gotten injured enough to take her to the ER where she required stitches, and we didn't get home until 5 AM. My brother had final exams and needed somebody to take him to his testing. I was going to, but couldn't even with an alarm clock from having been at the hospital. That was a week ago and my mom is still angry with me.

Now I know you think that your afterlife is going to be better, but I'm talking about your years on Earth. Do you think that somehow since you are "with Jesus" that your life is better than most.

I'm not talking in material terms, I mean are you happier than the average person solely because you believe in your version of God?
