It's just another day when the buses don't run.

Christmas can be a very special day for some, a lonely day for others. I'm going to avoid the religious connotations as that can get too hot.
Volunteering to work on the 25th was sweet. Some people really want that day off and you volunteering truly showed Christmas spirit!
Since you used to love it maybe you have just changed your rituals too much...look into what made you love it begin with and try to find that feeling again.
I personally like Christmas because it is a time of year when most people try to remember how much they appreciate the others in their life. We have a tendency to go through life appreciating others and not really telling them as much as we think it, or tell others about them. This is the time of year you get to show them. It isn't about the gift giving, or receiving, it is about the appreciation and love...for me anyway.
You are normal...many do not like the holiday, it may have been ruined for many reasons.
Enjoy your day and keep in mind that you gave other people something very important.
Hope you find your spirit but remember it doesn't take just one day to find it.

It is my second most hated day of year, Good Friday being worst as nothing open.
The only reason I like it is it gives me a day off of working which I won't argue against.
Tomorrow being Xmas the pubs are only open between 9-11am which is fast becoming my favourite tradition, getting drunk in 2 hours and going back home and going back to sleep!
I would love to work Xmas myself though as triple time wages but can't see that ever happenning.....

A few years back, it was the day that I worked for people who wanted to be home with their families. Now I am retired, it the day I see my family. I truly enjoy being with everyone.

It no longer means anything to me since I realized it is a Pagan holiday that was hijacked by the early Xian church to commemorate the birth of someone who was really not who they say he was. Just another myth. The flagrant commercialism is a big turnoff too.

It's very important to me because the new eve parties are baaaaaaaaanging
Oh, by the way....isn't this holiday suppose to be meaningful and historically significant? So they celebrate by grinding girls from behind and drinking alcohol all night?
Interesting...
