How can there be a question "if there really was God"???? For heaven's sake, look around you! Do you really think all the beauty around you (take a look at the vastness of the oceans, the majesty of the mountains and waterfalls, the many different animals in the world, a sunrise or sunset, the beauty of a freshly fallen snowfall.....do you REALLY think all this happened with a big bang?????? What makes the goats come into heat??? Who fashioned your face, gave you the color of your hair? Your mother? Your father? Who gave them theirs? Their parents? What about before them, and so on.....Can't you see there is a design to it all. It just can't happen by accidental crap. Try to create any of what I've mentioned. Any man........try to recreate life. Try to design it all. You can't. No man can.
If you're smart, you will come to the conclusion there is indeed a God. There is indeed someone greater than your meager selfish self (or mine).
Now that we have settled that. What is our relationship to HIM (not IT). You obviously haven't cracked the book called The Bible. Until you do that, you'll never know nor believe your relationship to God. By this time in your life, you've heard it all, yet you still try asking stupid questions. Try learning, or keep rambling around in your meager life during your little time on this earth, because when you die (and you surely will...maybe tonight....maybe in a car wreck....) that is it!!!! Nothingness until judgment day (which you probably don't believe in......to bad for you).
Don't you think you are worth more than that? Well, YOUR God thinks you are worth more than that.He loves you. He thinks you are worth lliving eternally in a perfect world, not this crap we call our lifetime in the here and now. No matter what you think you are, how worthless you think you are, even if you think this world is worthless and you wish to go on asking stupid questions like this one the rest of your life, just know, there IS a God. He is your creater and Father and he loves you even if no one else does.
Good luck.....Better find those answers yourself, because there's nobody out there that can give you the answers you are asking for, because you are not ready to listen. And you may never be. I hope not.

I suppose if there were a God, He would be more powerful than any of His creatures. Otherwise his name wouldn't be God. It would be something like ... Bob. But as God, He would be able to make the rules and most likely His creatures would have to follow or suffer the consequences.
Anything such a Being would say would by definition be true, since He would define reality as His creatures knew it.
Such a Being would be happy because, as God, no one would be powerful enough to thwart His will. If He then chose to share this happiness with His creation, I suppose it would be His right to do so, any way He liked. And most likely He would be able to pull it off.
Just supposing.

awesome, I don't believe in any of your athieisms anyway, ot their gods. I believe like the stoics do that "Nature" is god and I am its creation. In the life of the individual man, virtue is the sole good; such things as health, happiness, possessions, are of no account. Since virtue resides in the will, everything really good or bad in a man's life depends only upon himself. He may become poor, but what of it? He can still be virtuous. A tyrant may put him in prison, but he can still persevere in living in harmony with Nature. He may be sentenced to death, but he can die nobly, like Socrates. Therefore every man has perfect freedom, provided he emancipates himself from mundane desires.

Since there is a God, my relationship with Him is as personal and reverent as my human frailties will allow.

depends on the god. i'm not going to have a very healthy relationship with a self-centered, wrathful entity that claims to love everyone then sends everyone to hell.
